Lehigh University Libraries have once again earned national recognition from The Princeton Review, ranking #14 in the nation for Best College Library in The Best 392 Colleges: 2027 Edition. The distinction is based entirely on student survey responses and marks the Libraries’ second top-15 showing in recent years.

The ranking reflects students’ views of Linderman Library and Fairchild-Martindale Library and the resources, expertise, collections, technology, programs, and spaces they provide in support of learning and research.

“What makes this recognition especially meaningful is that it reflects the voices of our students,” said Boaz Nadav-Manes, University Librarian. “Our goal is for Lehigh’s libraries to be places where students feel they belong and where they can find the expertise, resources, spaces, and inspiration they need to succeed. Being recognized again among the nation’s best tells us that students value what we have built together - and challenges us to keep making their library experience even better.”

This week’s New Faculty Orientation gave Lehigh’s newest faculty an introduction to the many ways Lehigh Arts & Libraries can support, inspire, and connect their work at the university.

On Wednesday, leaders from Lehigh Libraries, Lehigh University Art Galleries, and Zoellner Arts Center welcomed over 30 new faculty and shared how our collections, spaces, programs, performances, exhibitions, expertise, and partnerships contribute to teaching, research, creativity, well-being, and engagement both on campus and in the broader community.

As Vice Provost for Lehigh Arts & Libraries Greg Reihman shared, “We envision a Lehigh where everyone’s life is enriched through meaningful, memorable, and transformative experiences with the arts and libraries.”

Orientation continued Thursday at the Lehigh Expo, where new faculty had the opportunity to connect with units from across the university and discover the many resources, services, and people available to support them.

To all of Lehigh’s new faculty: Welcome! We’re excited to have you here and look forward to the ideas, collaborations, discoveries, and connections the new academic year will bring.

In this week’s LETs Lab Summer Session, Lehigh students, faculty, and staff gathered in the LETs Lab to create their own choose-your-own adventure narrative stories. The “Write Your Own Interactive Stories in Twine” workshop was facilitated by Chris Harvey, CITL Senior Instructional Technologist and co-leader of the CITL Gaming and Game Studies Community of Practice.

Participants experienced a virtual walk around campus Chris created in Twine, an open-source tool for telling interactive, nonlinear stories. They saw how the experience was built, from concepts and planning to the finished product. Participants also had the opportunity to brainstorm ideas and create Twine stories of their own with coaching from Chris.

Last week, Lehigh community members got creative during the “Cut it Out! Combining Collage and Canva to Create Event Flyers” LETs Lab Summer Session. This workshop was co-facilitated by local creatives Josh Berk, Bethlehem Area Public Libraries Executive Director, and Tarah Cicero, ITS Manager of Academic Media Production Services.

The session began with instruction on collaging tools and process, design principles like color theory and composition, and the importance of readability/accessibility. The group also discussed the recent revival of hand created event flyers and took a deep dive into examples, including Josh’s recent collage creations in Canva. Then, the group got hands on, transforming discarded books, magazines, mailers, and other printed materials into art.

Participants left the session with original artworks of their own design and the resources and knowledge needed to transform their creations into one of a kind event flyers using Canva.

What does “open” mean in an era of information abundance, AI, and declining public trust?

At the 2026 Lehigh Valley Open Knowledge Symposium, educators, librarians, researchers, and technologists from across the region gathered at Lehigh University to explore the opportunities and challenges surrounding open knowledge, from open access publishing and open educational resources to open-source software and institutional repositories.

Through keynote presentations, lightning talks, panel discussions, and collaborative conversations, participants examined how openness, stewardship, trust, and community shape the future of knowledge sharing.

Lifelong learners from the Hi Neighbors community program recently visited the LETs Lab to experience The Lehigh Gap Story, a virtual reality learning experience developed by Lehigh RiVR Immersive Learning, a cross-disciplinary research and development lab at Lehigh, led by Dr. Alec Bodzin, Professor in the Teaching, Learning, and Technology program in Lehigh’s College of Education. The session was supported by Stephen Sakasitz, CITL Emerging Technology Specialist; Tarah Cicero, ITS Manager of Academic Media Production Services; and students from Dr. Bodzin’s research team.

During the visit, participants explored watershed and environmental issues through immersive VR and heard from Dr. Bodzin, who leads the initiative behind the VR experience and its broader series of STEM-focused learning games.

The Hi Neighbors Speakers Program, designed for retired professionals engaged in their community and interested in lifelong learning, offers free weekly presentations on local culture, history, and current events.
