What happens when concerns about declining fertility rates intersect with reproductive choice?

Yesterday, Lehigh University's College of Health welcomed Dr. Laura Lindberg of Rutgers School of Public Health for the inaugural Sexual and Reproductive Health Power Lab speaker event.

Her presentation, “Pronatalism and Reproductive Autonomy in an Era of Low Fertility,” explored the relationship between societal expectations, reproductive policy and individual autonomy.

A legacy of advancing health equity is creating new opportunities.

Alexis Dirksen ’29 is the first recipient of the Samara M. Everman ’23 Memorial Endowment Fund, established by Samara’s family to honor her life, her passion for health equity and her commitment to helping others.

With support from the fund, Alexis traveled to the Philippines this summer, gaining hands-on public health experience through TrackTB, a digital health initiative focused on improving tuberculosis treatment.

Samara’s impact continues through the students who now have opportunities to learn, serve and make a difference in her memory.

We loved welcoming nearly 60 Lehigh Valley high school seniors to the College of Health! 🤎

Students participating in the Emerging Health Professionals program spent the afternoon getting a firsthand look at life at Lehigh. They spent the day connecting with current COH students and our advising team and also got to explore campus and take part in an interactive bioethics exercise.

It was a great day introducing local students to the many possibilities of studying health.

Last week, our students shared their research, discoveries and hands-on experiences at our Experiential Learning and Research Symposium. It was an opportunity to see firsthand the incredible work our students are doing both inside and outside the classroom.

We're proud of the curiosity, dedication and hard work they bring to their projects and grateful to the faculty and mentors who help make these opportunities possible.

Join the College of Health’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Power Lab as we welcome inaugural speaker Dr. Laura Lindberg, professor at Rutgers School of Public Health, for "Pronatalism and Reproductive Autonomy in an Era of Low Fertility."

Dr. Lindberg will explore reproductive health policy in the post-Dobbs era, the importance of centering individuals’ reproductive goals and the role of public health in supporting reproductive autonomy.
