Highlights from the exhibition "Gwen Frostic: Art & Nature in Michigan" currently on view at the Ferris State Fine Art Gallery. Collaboration made this show possible. Works of art were loaned by generous community members from Artworks in Big Rapids and Ferris State University.

The show was co-curated by Dr. Rachel Foulk, Gallery Director Carrie Weis, Gallery Assistant Rosemary Graham, and students in Art History 325 (Women and Art). To present Gwen Frostic and her art to the wider public, Art History students developed the show’s themes and researched and wrote educational materials that provide information for visitors.

Students in Prof. Alison Popp's Design 320 (Branding Experiences II) created a visual identity for the show, designing the didactics. They also produced print materials and a web presence for the exhibition to create a meaningful visitor experience.

The show is on view through Saturday, May 6. If you haven’t had a chance to see it, please visit soon!

The work of Ferris Art History students was recently featured in the “Tribute to Willful Women” exhibit at Artworks in Big Rapids.

Students in Dr. Rachel Foulk’s Art History 325: Women and Art course examined how women are represented in art and in everyday objects. Inspired by the work of the Ferris Museum of Sexist Objects, students wrote essays examining how mass-produced images shape our understanding of women and their roles in our society. We are grateful to be part of community collaborations like this.
