We invite you to share your journey with us in 140 characters (Twitter-style) as part of the Inclusion Wall project!
We are creating a mural on the wall outside of the Office of International Education in IRC 134 as part of the “Inclusion Wall”. The Inclusion Wall mural is centered around 4x4 composite portraits of Woodbridge and Helen Ferris comprised of over 800 selfies of Ferris students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members. We will also be creating an accompanying webpage.
The mural will also include two dozen short “journeys” to showcase our human history and interconnectedness through our individual journeys. Each journey that is presented on the wall will end with the phrase, "I am Ferris." This demonstrates the philosophy of Ubuntu, which is best expressed as, "I am who I am because of who we all are."
Keeping with the idea of blending the historical past of our founders with the modern Ferris family reflected in 'selfies', we will incorporate the journeys of members of the Ferris family using a short 'tweet' format of 140 characters or fewer.
The journey might look like these samples:
“I am a Chinese American from Canton, Michigan. I play saxophone, lived in Paris, and study chemistry. I am Ferris.”
"I am a 3rd generation Ferris student with roots in Michigan from the lumber days. I will be a pharmacist like my grandfather. I am Ferris."
This connects our identity to our human history/journey, our passion, and a location, ending with “I am Ferris."
If you would like your journey to be part of the Inclusion Wall website and to be considered for the mural , please share your story by completing the form in the link below.
