Honors Program at Ferris State University Providing intellectual challenges, resources and support to highly able and motivated students, while encouraging service and leadership for the public good.

Established in 1997, the Honors Program continues to provide Ferris State students the opportunity to join a community of engaged learners from many disciplines, to dialogue with enthusiastic, distinguished faculty in a supportive intellectual environment, and to critically engage with the community. More than 700 students currently accept this challenge - will you?

Please join the Hispanic/Latino Cultural Center, in collaboration with the Hispanic Student Organization (HSO), the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA), Lambda Theta Phi, Gamma Phi Omega, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), the Multicultural Women's Group and Somos Votantes, to help kickoff the start of Hispanic Heritage Month on Wednesday, September 16th from 3-5pm in the Robinson Quad! Los Mariscos de Pancho food truck will be present; the first 100 meals are free---all are invited and we hope you can join in the fun!!!

Congratulations to Lillian Debarr on her completion of the Honors Leadership Institute in Spring 2026! Lillian took part in the inaugural institute organized by Josh Olszewski, the student organizations and Greek life coordinator at Ferris and an honors alumnus. The institute teaches students about the social change model of leadership. Lillian has established a strong track record in leadership as well through her campus engagement. She has been an honors peer mentor and serves on the Honors Peer Mentor Committee. She is also the president of the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance. We are proud of her accomplishments!

Congratulations to Delaney Beckett on her completion of her honors associate certificate and graduation from Ferris with a double major in biology and Spanish for the professions! Delaney has gone above and beyond by taking honors courses and doing study abroad in Costa Rica. In addition, she was a member of the Ferris State Disc Golf Team and did consistent volunteer work. She was a campus leader through her participation in the Student Alumni Gold Club, the Disc Golf Team, and the Honors Program. She helped organize a successful welcome event for new honors students in which they learned to play disc golf and helped clean up the campus disc golf course. We are proud of her accomplishments!

Congratulations to Benji Zorn on his completion of his honors associate certificate and graduation from Ferris with a major in business administration, a minor in professional sales, and a certificate in data analytics! Benji has gone above and beyond by taking honors courses and doing study abroad in Costa Rica in addition to his achievements outside the classroom. He was a member of the Ferris State Disc Golf Team and won the singles championship title at the 2024 Disc Golf National Championship. In the Honors Program, he hosted multiple disc golf events that improved the Big Rapids community through local clean-ups and introduced many students to the sport. He also coordinated large-scale events as a member of the Ferris State Special Olympics Club, such as the Heart-to-Heart game, poly hockey, and the Polar Plunge. We are proud of his accomplishments!

She has gone above and beyond both inside and outside the classroom. She has taken honors courses and done extra projects in non-honors classes for honors credit in addition serving in leadership roles on campus. She is the president of Business Professionals of America RSO and was an honors peer mentor helping guide new students in the Honors Program. She is also a member of the Student Legal Alliance RSO.
