In observance of Labor Day, Mountain Empire Community College campus offices will close at noon on Friday and remain closed through the holiday weekend. Online classes will continue as scheduled.

We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Labor Day as we celebrate the contributions and achievements of our workforce. Regular campus operations will resume on Tuesday, September 8.

Congratulations to Amber Murphy and Blake Yates, recipients of the 2026 Evelyn Strouth Annual Scholarship! 🎉 Each student was awarded a $2,000 scholarship in recognition of their outstanding performance in the MECC Nursing Program.

Amber is preparing to graduate with her Associate of Applied Science in Nursing degree in December, while Blake is currently in the second year of MECC's three-year part-time nursing program. Their commitment to pursuing careers in healthcare exemplifies the determination and compassion needed to serve our communities.

Established through the generosity of Mike Strouth to honor his mother, the Evelyn Strouth Annual Scholarship supports nursing students at MECC as they work toward achieving their educational and professional goals. The scholarship reflects the Strouth family's longstanding commitment to education in Southwest Virginia by investing in the next generation of nurses.
