Finding your future specialty starts with exploration.

RVU-MCOM students recently got a hands-on look at a variety of medical specialties during Specialty Speed Dating, hosted by the Office of Simulation in Medicine and Surgery.

With 13 student-led clubs participating, students practiced skills like intubation, CPR, OMT techniques, injections, nasogastric tube placement, and more while learning about specialties ranging from family medicine and internal medicine to anesthesia, dermatology, and women's health.

The event provided a unique opportunity for students to explore potential career paths and gain valuable exposure to the many fields within medicine.

Congratulations to RVU-MCOM Associate Professor of Physiology Dr. Brett Condon, PhD, who was recently named the 2026 George W. Northup Educator of the Year by the Student Osteopathic Medical Association Foundation.

RVU-MCOM’s SOMA chapter nominated Dr. Condon with a video featuring testimonials from students and faculty who shared the impact he has made on their education. The national award recognizes an educator who goes above and beyond in supporting osteopathic medical students.

Known for his enthusiasm in the classroom, willingness to adapt his teaching, and commitment to helping students succeed, Dr. Condon continues to make a meaningful difference at RVU-MCOM.

RVU Completes New Building for Proposed College of Veterinary Medicine

Rocky Vista University has reached an exciting milestone in Billings with the completion of the new facility for the proposed Rocky Vista University College of Veterinary Medicine.

From hands-on clinical learning to opportunities focused on rural and large-animal care, the new space is designed with the future of veterinary education in mind.

The 2027 trip calendar offers students opportunities to experience different communities, broaden their perspectives, and continue learning in environments outside the traditional classroom.

Upcoming opportunities include:

Dominican Republic, Panama, and U.S. Global (Tribal Medicine) | March 15–21
Kenya | June 14–July 2

These experiences are another way RVU-MCOM students can connect their medical education with the people and communities they may one day serve. We look forward to seeing where their learning takes them in 2027.

Today, 200+ incoming OMS I and MMS students rolled up their sleeves for a volunteer event at ZooMontana, grabbing rakes, gloves, and trash bags to help spruce up the grounds.

After the hard work was done, students got to explore the zoo and enjoy some well-deserved downtime with their new classmates. Service, community, and connection is what Foundations Week is all about!
