Would any former team members be interested in attending an alumni workday on Saturday, September 12th? 🤔 I think we would potentially have a morning workshop, with a mock debate tournament at the end. You don’t have to be there the entire day. Watch a round, offer some feedback, and head out whenever you need to.

I imagine that we will dabble in IEs this year, so former team members with IE experience, you’re welcome to join us too.

We are excited to welcome Jefferson State’s new debate team coach, Jacob Stone Humphries. A JSCC and Alabama debate alum, he’s taking over the program this fall.

He competed here from 2017 to 2019, then spent four years as Assistant Director of Debate helping the team land three national finishes in the top 3.

He also coached at the University of Alabama as a graduate assistant and volunteer debate coach, where his novices won multiple national titles.

He’s building this year’s team around a storytelling first approach. Come and check out the team, and all it has to offer you.

First practice is August 24th at 5 PM, Room 210, Bethune-Deramus Hall, Carson Road campus. No experience needed. Just show up! We hope to see you there.

The JSCC Debate Team is about to start competing in the End of Hi-BEAR-Nation Debate Tournament at The University of Central Arkansas!

We had a great time last weekend competing at the Eddy Shell Memorial Debate Tournament hosted by Bpcc Debate! The team did a great job debating, prepping and supporting one another. Ava Elliott made it all the way to semi-finals in her very first tournament! Thank you to Preston L. Langley II and his team for all their hard work!
