❤️ RED SAND EVENT | October 14, 2026 ❤️

Join the First Nations Women’s Alliance at United Tribes Technical College for an important afternoon of awareness, remembrance, and action surrounding human trafficking and exploitation.

The Red Sand Project uses red sand placed into sidewalk cracks to symbolize people who fall through the cracks of society. Together, we will bring awareness to this important issue and honor those who have been impacted. ❤️‍🩹

🌿 What to expect:
🪶 Traditional prayer to begin
📚 A short presentation and facts about human trafficking
❤️ Red Sand activity on designated sidewalks
📝 An opportunity to write the name of a loved one in remembrance

TOTALLY TRIBES' TUESDAY - 1931

This postcard was found this past summer during the remodel of Sakakawea Hall on campus. The postmark stamp is dated March 28, 1931 from Honolulu, Hawaii. It was sent to "John Stopka, Company I 4th Inf., Fort Lincoln N. Dak" from an E.T. Dudley.

Research of public records has revealed that John Stopka was honorably discharged on July 5, 1931 at Fort Lincoln and immediately re-enlisted the next day. He was honorably discharged from his second enlistment period on Jul 5, 1934. He re-enlisted again to serve in WWII and was killed in action on July 14, 1944. He is buried at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial in Colleville-sur-Mer, France.

E.T. Dudley was a member of Company I of the 21st Infantry and was stationed at the Schofield Barracks, which is inland from Honolulu on the island of O'ahu. Additional information about his military service has not been found.

The postcard was produced by Island Curio Co, in Honolulu, then territory of Hawaii. The business was established by James Steiner, a pioneer in documenting Hawaiian heritage through early 20th-century photography and print media.
