University of Mary Nursing The Nursing Division exists to prepare nurses serve and to lead by fostering a Christian, Catholic, and Benedictine learning environment.

The Nursing Division exists to prepare nurses to serve the health care needs of people in the region and beyond without regard to race, creed, cultural background, or gender. By fostering a Christian, Catholic, and Benedictine learning environment, the Division supports the University mission to prepare leaders in the service of truth to be competent in the areas of spirituality and ethics, communication, critical thinking, and global stewardship.

🔶🔷Meet a Mary Nurse🔷🔶
Born in McKenzie Bridge, Oregon, Paige Hay grew up in Colorado Springs, CO, before moving to Bismarck, North Dakota, in 2018, where she currently lives. During nursing school, she managed a restaurant and started a local catering company, which has grown into a full-time business. Paige graduated from Bismarck State College with an Associate of Science in Nursing and completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Mary. After graduation, Paige gained experience working in intensive care and emergency medicine. Paige has been working closely with St. Alexius’s Human Resources Director to create the hospital's first employee resource group focused on emerging leaders in healthcare. Paige is currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice, Family Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Mary with an anticipated graduation date of 2029. While Paige has several roles, her most important role is being a wife and a mom of two young daughters, whom she hopes to inspire one day.

🔶🔷Meet a Mary Nurse🔷🔶
Maria Brosnan was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and currently resides in Helena, Montana. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Rush University of Chicago with a specialty as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in 1998 and completed a post-graduate degree in 2022 from Frontier Nursing University, as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has held a variety of Nurse Practitioner positions, including Cardiology, ER, Home Visiting, Hospitalist, and currently completing Veteran Compensation evaluations. Maria has worked at Carroll College for the past twenty years teaching undergraduate nursing. She was awarded teacher of the year in 2011, earned tenure in 2016, and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2019. Maria has served in leadership positions in both the clinical and education settings, including quality improvement committee member for the ICU, Chair of the Nursing Department Student Affairs Committee and later Chair of the Faculty Affairs Committee, Chair of the Rank & Tenure Committee for 2024-2026, and Interim Director & Chair of the Nursing Department in 2014-15 and 2026-present. Maria has also served as Chair for the Nursing Director search committees in 2015, 2021, & 2026, as well as serving as a member of several Nursing Faculty/Staff search committees. She also recently served on the Presidential Search Committee for Carroll College in 2025-2026. Maria is currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice in the Nursing Organizational Leadership program at the University of Mary with an anticipated graduation in May 2028. She serves her community through involvement in the Cathedral of St. Helena Hospitality Committee, volunteering to prepare food for God’s Love Homeless Shelter, and assisting with Carroll College student retreats. Maria enjoys spending time with her horse, being outdoors with her dog Riley, and spending time with friends appreciating the Montana outdoors.

🔶🔷Meet a Mary Nurse🔷🔶
Courtney Froemke was born and raised near Enderlin, North Dakota, and currently resides in Lisbon, ND. She graduated from the University of Mary with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2021. She worked at the North Dakota Veterans Home and in 2019, moved to Sanford Family Medicine where she has picked up various roles. Her experience includes to***co cessation nurse, management of vaccines for children at a local site, preceptor, and lab designee. She enjoys attending her small country church where she teaches Sunday school and participates as a co-chair on one of the church activity committees. Courtney is currently pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice, Family Nurse Practitioner degree at the University of Mary with an anticipated graduation date of May 2029. She loves spending time with her husband and 3 kids on the farm. During her free time, she plants cut flowers and enjoys going to her children’s school and sporting events.

🔶🔷Meet a Mary Nurse🔷🔶
Mary Favorite was born in Minneapolis, MN, and raised in the suburbs of the Twin Cities. Mary currently lives in Minnetonka, MN. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND, in 2023. Mary then returned to Minnesota and began her career in the Emergency Center of Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN. Mary completed her Trauma Nursing Core Course to become TNCC certified and frequently has students follow her during clinicals or internships. Mary has also completed the Emerging Leaders Program at Methodist Hospital and is currently engaging with an interdisciplinary team to improve timely antibiotic administration in the Emergency Center to mitigate complications from sepsis. Mary graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing, Nursing Informatics in August 2026 and hopes to join Methodist Hospital’s informatics team and discover areas of improvement so that the quality of patient care can be bettered. Mary likes to spend her free time with her husband, Daniel, which often involves cooking or discussing renovations on their fixer-upper home.

🔶🔷Meet a Mary Nurse🔷🔶
Madelyn Christensen was born and raised in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, until her family moved to Fargo North Dakota, where she continues to reside today. She earned an Associate Degree in Nursing from Rasmussen College in 2019, which started her nursing career in the operating room at Sanford Medical Center Fargo. While gaining experience in this role, she returned to Rasmussen College and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 2021. Madelyn later advanced into a Registered Nurse Care Manager role in bariatric surgery, where she was nominated for the 2022 Florence Nightingale Nursing Award. Her professional background also includes experience as a Registered Nurse Injector in medical aesthetics and dermatology before transitioning into her current role as an Accreditation Specialist for Sanford Health Fargo and the North Network Region. Madelyn is currently pursuing a dual Master of Science in Nursing and Master of Business Administration degree in Healthcare Administration at the University of Mary, with an anticipated graduation in May 2027. In her free time, Madelyn enjoys spending time with her dog, hunting, golfing, snowboarding, relaxing at the lake, and watching football.

🔶🔷Meet a Mary Nurse🔷🔶
Cailin Bailey was born in Grand Forks, ND, and currently resides in Fargo, ND. She attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND, earning a Bachelor of Science with a major in Biology and minor in Chemistry and Honors in 2009. She worked in research and health insurance before earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Rasmussen University in 2022. Since, Cailin began her nursing career at Sanford Health on the Clinical Decision Unit (CDU). In her time there, she has worked as a bedside and charge nurse, earned her medical surgical board certification, serves on the CDU’s Unit Based Council and Sanford’s Evidence Based Council, and acts as a preceptor for nursing students and new hires. Cailin is currently pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice, Family Nurse Practitioner at the University of Mary with an anticipated graduation date of May 2029. Cailin’s free time is spent with her three children. In the summer, they can be found outside in the garden, at the lake, or hiking; in the winter, its sports, board games, and reading.

Today marked the start of Healthcare Simulation Week, and our students in Adult Health II dove right in with a hands-on CODE orientation. Students rotated through key skills they’ll need for their upcoming CODE simulation, including:
✅ Practicing high-quality chest compressions
✅ Learning and practicing the critical coaching role during CPR
✅ Reviewing heart rhythms
✅ Practicing defibrillator use
✅ Reviewing the contents of the crash cart

Simulation-based learning like this gives our students the chance to build confidence and muscle memory in a safe, supportive learning environment.

Stay tuned as we continue to celebrate Healthcare Simulation Week in our Warren Nursing Simulation Center.
