What an unforgettable experience for our community! The Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering was truly honored to welcome back ECE pioneer Dr. Theodore Rappaport for a special Fall 2026 seminar titled, "The Miraculous Birth of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science".

Dr. Rappaport is a true visionary in our field who originally founded Virginia Tech's Mobile and Portable Radio Research Group (MPRG)—the foundational roots that grew into today’s globally renowned Wireless @ Virginia Tech. Wireless @ VT continues to drive massive global impact, leading the charge in wireless research, innovation, and shaping the future of connectivity worldwide.

Hearing firsthand from Dr. Rappaport about the untold stories of invention, inspiration, and the breakthroughs that established the fundamental laws of ECE and computer science was an incredible privilege for our first-year students, graduate researchers, and faculty alike. Moments like these bridge our rich history with the cutting-edge innovations of tomorrow.

Thank you, Dr. Rappaport, for returning to campus and inspiring the next generation of Hokie engineers! 🧡 🦃
