From leading The Marching Virginians to excelling in engineering, Mitchell Dreffer made his mark at Virginia Tech.

As drum major for the Marching Virginians, Dreffer led the band onto the field at Lane Stadium, creating unforgettable moments for Hokie Nation.

A senior in the College of Engineering, he majored in mining and minerals engineering with a minor in green engineering and was named the Outstanding Senior for his department.

English literature and studio art double-major Bella Joerg found community, confidence, and purpose through Glossolalia, Virginia Tech’s student literary festival. From joining the organization as a first-year student to later serving as president, Joerg helped create space for students to share their writing and connect through literature.
