Kayla Sears is from Gloucester, VA and is graduating this spring with a Bachelor of Science in Animal and Poultry Science. She is a member of our Beta Xi class, joining our chapter in Fall of 2023.

She has served our chapter as Membership Director on our Exec Team. Kayla has been involved on campus as a member of Collegiate Horsemen’s Association, worked in Poultry Nutrition Research Lab, a member of Poultry Club, a member of Pre-Vet Club, served as a School of Animal Sciences Ambassador, and worked as an Animal and Poultry Sciences Peer Mentor.

This summer, Kayla plans on working full-time at a small animal general practice clinic in Gloucester, VA!

Kayla’s long-term goal is to attend veterinary school and become a veterinarian! 🩺

Kayla’s parting message to her sisters is as follows: “I 10,000% would not be where I am today without Sigma Alpha and my sisters! I’ve had so many amazing opportunities like serving as the 2025 Membership Director and attending the 2025 National Convention! While I’m so sad to leave my Sigma Alpha sisters, I know they’ll only be a phone call away! Thank you to all my sisters for being you and being the best group of girls a girl could join!”

Katie Lorens is from Rocky Mount, VA and is graduating this spring with a Bachelor of Science in Animal and Poultry Science, with a minor in Spanish. She is a member of our Beta Xi class, joining our chapter in Fall of 2023.

During her time at Virginia Tech, Katie was involved in the Virginia Tech Honors College, a member of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society, Poultry club, Pre-Veterinary Medical Association, Collegiate College Mentors for Kids, was an APSC first year experience Peer Mentor, an SS: Shelter Dog Training TA, a Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center volunteer, and completed two study abroad programs in New Zealand and Costa Rica! 🌴

This summer, Katie plans to be helping on a research study in Las Vegas where she will work with shelter dogs and in a small animal clinic! 🐶

Katie is heading off to VMCVM in the Fall, and her long term goal is to become a board certified veterinarian! 🩺

Katie’s parting message to her sisters is as follows: “Sigma Alpha is one of my absolute favorite things I have done in college and that’s because I have gotten to know so many amazing women in agriculture. I am going to miss you all so much next year!”

Mary Callahan is from Springfield, VA and is graduating this Spring with a Bachelor of Science in Animal and Poultry Science, and a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish. She is a member of our Beta Rho class, joining our chapter in Spring of 2025.

During her time at Virginia Tech, Mary was a member of Alpha Chi Sigma Professional Fraternity, Sigma Delta Pi Hispanic Honor Society, Dairy Club at Virginia Tech, Beekeeping Club, was an intern at the Black Diamond Ranch, completed a semester long study abroad at the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez, was an employee at Kentland Dairy Complex, and participated in Little International and Little All American!🎉

This summer, Mary plans on doing an internship in Staunton, VA where she’ll focus on beef production or a related animal science field! Mary’s long-term goal is to one day own a ranch and be a cattle producer! 🐄🤠

Mary’s parting message to her sisters is as follows: “Thank you all so much for the amazing sisterhood you have given me, I have made countless friends and memories that I will never forget. I hope you all know how capable you are, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. You all will go on to do such amazing things and whatever path life leads you on is meant for you. Abby Weisberg is from Riverview, Florida and is graduating this Spring with a Bachelor of Science in Dairy Science, with a minor in Strategic Communications. She is a member of our Beta Xi class.

During her time at Virginia Tech, Abby was a member of the Dairy Club and served as our 2025 Recruitment Director!

This summer, Abby plans on moving to North Carolina, where she is going to be exploring opportunities and gaining more hands-on experience in the agriculture industry. She is also planning her wedding! 🎉

Abby’s long-term goal is to build a career in the Dairy industry where she can market and promote the importance of dairy farms. She also plans to work in Agriculture Education and Extension and hopes to inspire the next generation to get involved in the agriculture industry! 🐮🌾

Abby’s parting message to her sisters is as follows: “Take chances on things you feel you would be good at! Don’t forget to appreciate every memory along the way!”

During her time at Virginia Tech, Megan was a member of the Block and Bridle club, the Collegiate Beef Leadership Council, and was an employee at Kentland Dairy Farm. 🐮

This summer, Megan plans to complete an internship at Virginia Cooperative Extension 4-H with Augusta County!

Megan’s long term goal is to hopefully become an extension agent! 🌾

Megan’s parting message to her sisters is as follows: “To my Sigma Alpha sisters, it’s hard to put into words what this chapter has meant to me. Hey everyone! My name is Emma and I’m going to be taking over the social media! I’m a freshman in Animal and Poultry Science with a minor in Agriculture education. Zoe’s left me with some big shoes to fill, but I’m excited to take over her role as she moves on to new exciting things!! I have some fun ideas planned, so make sure to keep an eye out 👀
