The latest release of the Brave-Butters-Kelley Indexes (BBKI) has the coincident index at 0.0 for August, down slightly from July. This reading places the economy right at trend growth, which our model currently estimates to be near 2.9%. The small downtick in August partly reflects the declines in manufacturing output, housing starts/permits, and consumer sentiment that occurred in August relative to July. https://www.ibrc.indiana.edu/bbki/

The BBKI is a barometer of where the economy is and where it might be heading in the future.
