QUECHUA LANGUAGES AND CULTURES PROGRAM AT UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA!
https://web.sas.upenn.edu/quechua/

The renewed Quechua Languages and Cultures Program at the University of Pennsylvania, widely known as Quechua at Penn, is more than a language program; it is a vibrant space for intercultural learning, Indigenous knowledge, and academic excellence.

Offered through the Penn Language Center at University of Pennsylvania, the program is dedicated to teaching Quechua as a Foreign Language (QFL) through a communicative and culturally grounded approach. Students develop practical skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing while engaging with real-world communicative contexts.

Beyond language learning, the program opens pathways into the rich Andean-Amazonian cultural world, exploring the histories, traditions, worldviews, and symbolic systems of Quechua-speaking communities. Through courses, research initiatives, and cultural and academic activities, Quechua at Penn fosters a deeper understanding of one of the most important Indigenous languages and civilizations of the Americas.

Join us in celebrating and supporting Indigenous languages, cultures, and knowledge systems. Discover our courses, research, and community initiatives, and become part of a growing movement dedicated to linguistic and cultural revitalization.

Since its inception, ICRIML has grown into a truly global forum. The first conference was held in Barcelona and Vic, Spain (2017), followed by Brasília, Brazil (2019). The third conference (2022) was jointly hosted in Girona, Spain, and Perpignan, France, and the fourth took place in Kyoto, Japan (2025).
