50 Bloomsburg students showed up for our 2026 Earth Day environmental film screening last night! This year, we watched "Good Grain," a new documentary about organic grain farmers, millers, bakers, and brewers creating a local food economy in New Jersey. Great film.

EGGS 302 (Land Resources Management) had a great field trip this (April 15) morning to Greene Kitchen Farm just outside Bloomsburg. We learned about rotational grazing, fruit tree grafting, several applications of agroforestry, and so much more!

Many thanks to farmer Joshua and his son (and farmer) Owen for a great tour of the farm.

Our brains are now *full* of all the good info EGGS alum Nathan Staruch (Monroe County Planning Commission) brought to our Lunch & Learn this week! Please thank your local planners for all the amazing work they do. If something in your community improved, chances are good that a planner played an important role in making it happen! Soon-to-be EGGS grads also got timely advice about the transition from student to professional. Congratulations to Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg students Nolan Bench, Michael P**n, Brooke Rhoads, Anna Runkle, and Kathryn Polstra, who just presented their work on the Oneida #3 and Scarlift 15 AMD treatment sites at the Geological Society of America Northeastern Section meeting! They did good work on their EGGS 460 course-embedded projects and their presentations showed it. We also got to stop by the Yale Peabody Museum to marvel at their mineral specimens and check out the fossils. More photos from EGGS 230! (Days 4 and 5) On Day 4 we started out at the alluvial fan across the dry wash from our Mesquite Springs campsite, then switched gears for some recent(ish) volcanism at Ubehebe Crater, cooked our shoes at Mesquite Flats sand dunes, checked out the Kit Fox Hills and a lovely (old) beach bar, and finished the day with a little hiking, and a little grading. Day 5 was moving day (Death Valley to Owens Valley) with a stop at Silver Peak to discuss lithium mining and get up close and personal with a cinder cone. It's a lot cooler one mile up at our new digs in French Camp, and whew(!) everyone did a great job on their field notebooks!
