The Creative Expressions class began with an exploration of what it means to express ourselves. Through a variety of engaging games and activities, students experimented with spoken, unspoken, and written forms of expression. From there, we began to explore a deeper question: What does it truly mean to be creative? 🎨✂️
Students listened to expert educators who emphasized the growing importance of creativity in today’s workforce. They discovered how critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and creative thinking are essential skills for success in the classroom and beyond.
To put these skills into action, students began working in collaborative groups on a creative problem-solving challenge centered around a candy factory. Each group was challenged to use their imagination to help save the factory by designing an exciting new candy and creating a model of a brand-new candy factory. 🍭🍬
The students also developed recipes for their candy creations and brought their ideas to life by actually making the candy in the classroom. They will participate in a taste test, sampling the different creations and voting for their favorite candy.
To conclude the project, each group will present its candy creation and candy factory model to the class. Students will reflect on their work and evaluate their creativity, collaboration, problem-solving, and presentation skills using a project rubric.
This hands-on experience allows students to discover that creativity is much more than simply having a good idea—it involves imagination, collaboration, critical thinking, problem-solving, and the courage to turn an idea into something real! ✏️📚🏫
