Welcome to Dr. Craig!

Beginning July 7, 2026, Dr. Jason Craig will enter the role of Bluefield University's Provost following his service at Marymount University.

Dr. Craig will serve as Bluefield's chief academic officer, providing leadership across all academic programs, faculty affairs, and institutional effectiveness. His appointment comes as the university prepares to expand graduate and online education, launch its first doctoral programs pending SACSCOC approval, and continue growth in high-demand, workforce-aligned fields.

Bluefield University will host its first Undergraduate Commencement of the day tomorrow morning, Saturday, May 2, at 10:00 a.m. in Harman Chapel. This ceremony will celebrate members of the Class of 2026 who completed a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Arts and Letters, a Bachelor of Science from the School of Criminal Justice or the School of Education & Social Science, or an Associate of Science.

Jacob Phillips, future Biology/science teacher, and Alaina Hayden, future elementary teacher, practicing the scientific method today in Professor Faith Peterson’s Teaching Science and Science Social Studies class. Students built boats to see how many stones they could hold, then revisited their design to improve and retest. We enjoy using hands-on, experiential learning experiences that can be adapted for all grade levels.

This was a beautiful concert! So proud of all our students and alumni. Several current Music Education students participated and several alumni directed: Alexandra Stout, Timothy Gasperson, Garrett Leland, and Ashton Bucklen. Wonderful job by all! 👏👏👏

Planned improvements include upgraded common areas and bathrooms, new windows, and the installation of PTAC heating and AC units in each room.
