🌏 From USCB to Asia, international cooperation brings the world together!

USCB Provost Dr. Kim Dudas is spending this week in Taiwan as part of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities’ (AASCU) delegation at the 2026 U.S.-Taiwan Semiconductor Higher Education Networking Event.

She and the other delegates will learn about the semiconductor industry in Taiwan and about partnerships with Taiwanese universities that support and sustain the industry. Participants will meet with potential partners at Taiwanese universities for faculty and student exchange, study abroad and joint research.

The AASCU group has already visited Kuo Yuan Ye, a famous, century-old Taiwanese pastry brand, where they handcrafted pineapple cakes (a national treat).

They also visited the Taoyuan Tudigong Culture Museum to dive deeper into traditional Taiwanese beliefs and attended the "Freedom 250 Workforce First Summit" in Taipei. Co-hosted by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Industrial Development Administration (IDA) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), this summit convened 150 government, industry, and academic leaders from the United States and Taiwan to strengthen workforce development and align educational pathways with critical technology industries.

Dr. Dudas and the other delegates will attend SEMICON Taiwan 2026 — Asia’s premier annual trade exhibition and conference for the global semiconductor and microelectronics manufacturing industry — and take part in other activities designed to promote greater understanding and appreciation for Taiwanese history and culture.

🇮🇹 When fashion meets advocacy!

USCB student Dakarai Curry traveled to Italy this month to participate in Sicilia Fashion Week 2026. In addition to walking the runway, he served as an ambassador for WEModel USA NWECare— representing a new generation of talent committed to fashion, leadership, service, youth protection, and global impact.

The ambassadors create short reels, photographs, and youth-centered messages addressing the prevention of child trafficking and exploitation.

Dakarai has a thriving modeling career that has taken him to Rome, New York, Los Angeles and many other destinations. We are proud to call him a Sand Shark! 🦈
