College of Science Spotlight: Morgan Slevin🌟

Florida Atlantic Ph.D. alumnus Morgan C. Slevin led a study showing how everyday stressors can significantly alter gut bacteria in wild Northern cardinals. The findings connect changes in the microbiome to stress hormones, body condition, and beak coloration, offering new insight into wildlife health, resilience and conservation.

🌟 Alumni Spotlight: Jacenta Cordova 🌟

Jacenta shares her love for her experience at FAU. "I started in 2022, studying Exercise Science & Health Promotion at the College of Science. I fell in love not only with my program but also with the campus, the city, the beaches & everything Palm Beach had to offer! Not really knowing what plans I had post-grad, in 2024, I was positively influenced to take the next step in my education by mentors in my program, directors & professors. I began dual-enrolling in my B.S. & M.S. programs to earn my Master's in Exercise Physiology. Last year, in 2025, I graduated with my Bachelor's in Exercise Science & Health Promotion. This year, I walked the stage again; Collecting my Masters in Exercise Physiology Magna Cum Laude!! I couldn’t be more grateful to the FAU College of Science and the FAU Graduate College for giving me the opportunity to grow not only academically but also personally. In these 4 years, I learned who I was and who I wanted to be.

I am truly proud to be a Florida Atlantic University Alumni & Extremely proud to be considered a “Double Owl”. As a first-generation student & the First in my family to earn a Master's, I’m thankful for all the opportunities and challenges presented during my time at Florida Atlantic University. Go Owls ❤️💙"

We are excited for your advocacy and impact efforts, Jacenta!

🌟 Student Spotlight: Voltaire Lubin 🌟

A graduate student in the Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling Master’s program in FAU’s College of Education, with an expected graduation of Fall 2027.

Volt is a South Florida native from North Lauderdale who earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from FAU. He describes his journey as one that "has always been rooted in service, culture, and advocacy. I’m a strong supporter of Haitian culture and have served on the executive board of Konbit Kreyol as historian, helping preserve and highlight our community’s history and impact.

Outside of school, I spend much of my time volunteering with Doing Good in the Hood, a nonprofit dedicated to providing essential resources to underserved communities. These experiences continue to shape my purpose and passion. My goal is to advocate for those without a voice and create meaningful change through my work in rehabilitation counseling."

We are excited for your advocacy and impact efforts, Volt!
