Would you like some help raking the leaves from your yard? NeighborWorks Boise's Rake Up Boise is now accepting applications for their Rake My Yard program. To qualify, residents must live in Ada County and be aged 65 or older, a veteran, or a person with a disability. Applicants must also be unable to maintain their yard due to physical or financial limitations.

2026 Idaho Great Reads Author event: "Incredible Idaho Women" by Kara Jackson

Location: Butte Room, Library! at Hillcrest (5246 W. Overland Rd. Boise)

Meet the creative team behind “Incredible Idaho Women” at this family program for all ages. The book’s creator, Kara Jackson of BoiseDev, will read selections and share stories about the women featured in the book. The event includes hands-on activities for the participants of all ages to celebrate the incredible people in their own lives.

"Incredible Idaho Women" is one of two 2026 Idaho Great Reads books that will represent Idaho at the 2026 Library of Congress National Book Festival.

Join us for an evening with Tara Karr Roberts for a lively discussion about her beautiful debut novel, "Wild and Distant Seas." The conversation will be led by Steven Olsen-Smith, Professor Emeritus of English Literature at Boise State University, followed by a Q&A with the audience and a book signing.

The event celebrates Wild and Distant Seas as a 2026 Idaho Great Reads selection. The book was chosen by the Idaho Center for the Book to be featured along with Great Reads selections from across the country at the Library of Congress National Book Festival on August 22 in Washington, D.C.
