Culinary Club Meeting Minutes
February 20, 2015

Meeting called to order at 10:00 by Chef Steely

I. Field Trips:
• Cheese tour is tentatively scheduled for Friday April 17th, more information to follow.
• Joyful Tea Talk is still getting organized by Sara Rose
• Dawson Coffee tour is still getting organized by Chef Holten

II. Dinner & Events for club funds: Please have all ideas with full details to Chef Steely by Friday February 27th. We need to get things in order and set up before May 9th.
Please find out when they can accommodate 12-15 people and what the pricing will be.

• Mai Tai – Casey Horton will investigate
• State & Limp – Matthew Baker will investigate
• Farm to Table Dinner – Brenda Hurst will investigate

III. CWA = Culinary Walk-About
• ACF fundraiser for Meals on Wheels
• Multiple restaurants will be there offering samples for a flat rate entrance fee
• Silent and Live Auctions
• Volunteers are needed to help Chef’s from different participating restaurants. Meetings are held on Saturday’s
• The event is scheduled for Thursday April 30th
• Please talk to Casey Horton for more details and let her know if you are interested in helping.

Culinary Club Meeting Minutes
January 30, 2015

Meeting was called to order by Sara Rose at 10:15am

1. Fundraiser Ideas: Matthew and Casey both had ideas to sell dinners to couples or families. The group decided that a pasta dinner made for 2, 4, or 6 would be most appropriate. We will advertise these as “Weekend Dinners”. There will be optional pick-up sites. More to come in the next weeks.

2. Community Service: We need to do a couple of community service projects this semester. Please look around for opportunities for our club to help out.

• Chef Steely will need volunteers to help with the “Baked Potato Feed” – benefiting children with diabetes. This will take place February 21st in the am. Please sign up with Chef Steely.
• Idaho Food Bank could be another option. We need to get ahold of the director there and set up a date and time with specific number of volunteers.

3. ACF Conference: Matthew found out numbers and got the club a good deal for registration. If eight or more people sign up, then registration will be $300 each. If less than eight students sign up, then the registration fees will be $350 each.
• This Conference will be open to all Culinary Students, not just Club Members.
• The Culinary Club will donate $800-$1000 to help cover the costs of travel and boarding.
• Chef Steely is going to ask for $1000 from the program as a staff & program development opportunity.
• Chef Steely is going to ask for $1000 form the local ACF Chapter.
• More to come on this topic.

4. Club Adventures: LET’S GET OUR “CLUB” ON!!!!!!
• Sara is setting our club up for a “Tea Talk” with her friend who is a Tea Specialist. More to come on this event.
• Connie is trying to organize a “Wine Tour” with one of our local wineries. More to come on this.
• Rhonda is in the process of setting up a “Cheese Tour” at the Nampa Cheese Plant. I need to get a head count as well as set a date with the Company HR Manager. I will be posting a sign-up sheet in the break room with 3 dates. Please sign-up if you are interested and PLEASE choose your 1st choice of date and 2nd choice of date. Also include your email and phone number so I can send you a reminder.

Culinary Club Meeting Minutes
January 23, 2015

I. Meeting called to order at 10:00 am by Matt Baker
II. 1st order of business: Fundraiser Ideas and Flyers: Please bring your ideas about a fundraiser and all the details to the meeting this Friday January 30. Include flyers that have all the details. What we are selling, when we are selling, cost of goods, how they will pay for the goods and when they will be available for pick-up or delivery.
III. 2nd order of business: FIELD TRIP IDEAS!!!!! We are in our last semester of having our club and we have not gone on any fun events. Please do some research and come up with ideas for the club to go out and have some fun. Please contact your source and have possible dates and times in mind as well cost of the event.
IV. Meeting times will alternate from every other Monday and every other Friday due to the schedules of the students. Please look for posted meeting times and try to attend one or the other. The same items will be discussed on the Monday/Friday dates so as to get important information out to everyone.

Culinary Club Meeting Minutes
December 9, 2014

Meeting Called to order by Sara Rose at 1:48 pm

I. End of Semester Party will be December 17, 2014 at 11 am in the Deli. It is a Potluck so please bring your favorite appetizer or dessert. There is a sign-up sheet in the break room. We will also have a short meeting to discuss the Spring events.

II. Alton Brown is coming to the Morrison Event Center…We want to go!!! February 26, 2015 on Thursday night. We can get a discount tickets as a group.

III. Spring Fund Raisers: Lasagna & spaghetti take home dinners or build your own pizzas at home. We could advertise in the deli and sell on Friday’s.

IV. Spring Time Fun…. Possible outings at Discovery Center of Idaho: Science of Brewing or maybe Peaceful Belly or the worm beds or maybe chef Nick can help us set up a sit down Prix Fix menu dinner at Mai Tai Restaurant

V. Knowledge Bowl: Still up in the air but thinking we have a team of 4 with an alternate. One person has turned in their essay to get help to have an ACF membership in order to compete. GO CWI!!!!!

Culinary Club Meeting Minutes
December 2, 2014

Meeting called to order at 1:50pm by Chef Steely.

• Christmas Party: will be a potluck held on December 17, 2014 at 11 am in the deli.
- Please bring a side dish and a White Elephant Kitchen Gadget for the gift exchange. The kitchen gadget should cost no more than $10.00. Please wrap your gift.
- There will be a sign up sheet in the break room to write what food you plan to bring to the party, this will eliminate having all desserts and no main foods. Please sign up as soon as possible.
• Intern/Externship Meeting: There will be a meeting to discuss intern and externship

Culinary Club Meeting Minutes
November 11, 2014

Meeting called to order at 2:00pm by President Matthew Baker

I. Posting Flyers- club needs to talk to the one-stops in various locations to get approval to post cookie sale flyers. Ask DeLynn to post and advertise at the Nampa Micron location. Casey and Daryl offered to post at Ada County. We will push the sale date to November 21 and need to have orders and cash in hand that day.

II. ACF Meeting will be held in our dining room on Monday November 17th at 6:00pm. Chef Steely is in need of members to volunteer to help prep and cook for a meeting at 5:00 prior to the ACF Meeting. Volunteers are needed from 2 to 5 in the kitchen.

III. ACF Membership assistance is available to those who submit their paragraph to Chef Steely by Tuesday November 18th.

IV. Christmas Party – please start thinking of ideas for a Christmas Party. What, Where, When and do we want to do a gift exchange, ideas for this and cost limits.

V. Spring Fundraiser – Start thinking of what we can do for a fundraiser in the spring semester. A formal dinner, take home dinners, cupcake sales or an after Valentine’s Day dinner. We need to make decisions now so that we can market the idea earlier.

VI. Art Contest – the library is holding a competition art contest. The theme is “books”. We need to come up with an idea and a game plan. This is due in April so we need to get on the project soon. The prize is $100.00.

Culinary Club Meeting Minutes
November 4, 2014

Meeting called to order at 1:50pm

I. Food Bank Volunteers need to report to the location off Federal Way by noon. We are scheduled to work from 12-2:30pm this Saturday November 8th. Rhonda and Matthew are for sure in and we need two more helpers. Please let Matthew know if you can help us out.
II. Cookie sale: Flyers are being e-mailed to some members. Please print and distribute to family and friends. Forward Facebook posts and let’s get some big orders. All members of the club are expected to help in some way. Please sign up for Mix and Scoop (Dec. 1), Baking and Packaging (Dec. 3) or Delivery (Dec. 4).
III. ACF Grant Applications: If you are interested in getting help with a student ACF Membership this year our club can help. Culinary Club will be assisting students with a $50.00 grant to those interested. Please submit a paragraph or two stating why you are interested and explain why you are a “good” candidate for this grant. These are due to Chef Steely by no later than November 18th.
IV. Spring Fundraiser: Please be thinking of ideas for a Spring Fundraiser to help obtain more money to assist in field trips and the Knowledge Bowl. Examples: Valentines Gifts and a Spring Dinner in the Dining Room.
V. Showcase: Our upper classmen are in need of volunteers to help them with their Showcase on Saturday December 6th. Club members are needed in the kitchen to prep, plate and do dishes. Servers will also be needed. This is a time for these 4 students to show off what they have been learning for the past 2 years. They will be serving a 7 course meal paired with beverages to their family and friends. They are expecting 50-60 people. PLEASE HELP THESE STUDENTS!!!! Remember, we will be in their shoes all too soon. See Matthew or Sean to sign up.

Culinary Club Meeting Minutes
October 28, 2014

Meeting was called to order at 1:55 pm

I. Flyer for cookie sale is being made in order to e-mail out to CWI faculty and also to hand out to different departments around BSU and ADA and Canyon county campuses.
II. Review of the order form for the cookie sale brought about some changes to include who to make a check out to (CWI Culinary Club), when cookie orders are due with payment and also when cookies will be available to be picked up at the culinary arts building and when deliveries will be made to ADA and Canyon County.
III. Preparing and Baking cookies will be done on the following dates:
• Mix & Scoop – Monday December 1st from 10:30 – 1:30 in the bakery.
• Baking & Packaging – Wednesday December 3rd from 2:00 – 5:00pm in the bakery.
• Deliveries will be made on Thursday December 4th by several volunteers.

IV. Food Bank Volunteers needed for “Scouting for Food” on Saturday November 8th. It was voted that we would volunteer at the Warehouse off Federal Way from 12 – 2:30 pm. So far Matt and Rhonda have signed up for this event. Please let Chef Steely know if you are interested.

We are the Fall 2014 Culinary Showcase Class. We are hosting an event Wednesday, November 12th from 6-8pm. This event demonstrates our culinary skills by way of fantastic appetizers pared with local wine makers and brewers. Please support our class by purchasing a ticket to attend.
