Twenty-five years ago, our department set out with a simple but ambitious mission: cultivate talent, connect people, and contribute lasting impact. A quarter century later, that mission has been realized through the efforts of our students, faculty, alumni, and the industry and government partners who have invested in us every step of the way.

This anniversary belongs to all of you. Whether you’re a longtime partner, a contributor, reconnecting with old classmates, or meeting the students and faculty carrying our work forward today, we’re glad you’re here. Since its creation in 2001, Boise State University's Department of Computer Science has grown alongside the region's technology industry. In 2016, the College of Engineering moved the program downtown, placing students and faculty in the heart of Boise's growing tech ecosystem.

Today, that industry-connected approach continues to pay off: Boise State's undergraduate computer science program has earned the highest U.S. News & World Report Ranking among undergraduate programs in Idaho.

We’re so excited to announce a brand-new Joan Ganz Cooney Center resource: The Co-Design with Kids Toolkit!

codesignwithkids.org is a practical, interactive resource designed to help organizations meaningfully partner with children throughout the design and development process. The toolkit was created to support developers, designers, educators, researchers, and youth-serving organizations interested in bringing participatory design practices into their work. Whether you’re entirely new to co-design or looking to deepen an existing practice, the toolkit provides concrete strategies, facilitation tips, ethical considerations, and adaptable activities that can be put into practice right away.
