What caused Boise State’s Bachelor of Arts in Music to double enrollment in a single year?

The answer is a fresh program redesign.

New certificates and minors in music production, arts entrepreneurship, and user research design are a smattering of the opportunities students have to expand their career prospects. And passionate students who aren’t classically trained now have the option to complete an interview instead of an audition to enroll.

This refreshed music program is only the beginning of the long list of Boise State’s Department of Music “wins” over the past few years. Other accomplishments include 100% job placement for music education majors, and hosting more than 200 musical events each year.

Today, Associated Students of Boise State University (ASBSU) are helping Broncos register to vote at the Westmark Student Union.

Caleb Perkins, ASBSU Government Relations Officer, said, “I am grateful to the Idaho Secretary of State’s Office for its partnership with ASBSU in helping Boise State students register to vote. Civic engagement is essential to upholding the principles upon which our nation was founded.”

What is sagebrush? What does it look, smell and taste like?

Common across the west, sagebrush is a woody shrub with grayish green leaves. If you’ve been near sagebrush after a rain shower, or brushed against the plant, it releases strong smelling chemicals that some people describe as spicy, earthy, piney and even medicinal.

Sagebrush is toxic to humans when eaten, and in the wild, few creatures bother trying to eat the plant due to its bitter taste. This awful taste is a big reason why the species has survived so long.

On Friday, Oct. 9, Boise State officially opened the ESI Construction Management Building during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on campus, marking a transformative milestone for the university’s College of Engineering and for Idaho’s construction industry.

The approximately 13,000 square-foot facility was made possible entirely through the generosity of more than 200 donors, including industry partners, alumni, foundations and supporters, as well as lead naming-rights supporter Engineered Structures, Inc. (ESI).

The ESI Construction Management Building is a landmark investment in the future of Idaho’s construction workforce.

Celebrating 6️⃣0️⃣ years of Criminal Justice at Boise State ⚖️

Introduced in 1966, Criminal Justice in the Boise State University College of Education and Public Service now serves approximately 600 undergraduate and graduate students. Faculty conduct research projects and community initiatives, while students gain experiential learning by visiting and working with policing, correctional, court and victim agencies.
