What happens when you say yes to new challenges, new communities, and new opportunities? For My Hoang Tran, it led to an incredible Northeastern journey. Originally from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, My pursued her MS in Project Management while making an impact far beyond the classroom. From completing a co-op at HubSpot to presenting award-winning research at RISE 2025, mentoring fellow students, and volunteering internationally, she’s embraced every opportunity to learn, lead, and give back. My’s story is a reminder that project management isn’t just about managing projects, it’s about people, possibilities, and creating impact along the way.

Originally from India, Vrutika Anjirwala has used Northeastern’s experiential learning opportunities, co-op experience, and leadership roles to grow both personally and professionally. Her story highlights the power of stepping outside your comfort zone and embracing new opportunities, while staying connected to her passion for Bharatanatyam, community, and her roots.

"Project management is one field of study where we are all from different backgrounds and industries. It automatically broadens your perspective."

That's Maria Juzer Motiwala, president of Northeastern University Project Management (NUPM), on a board that includes a former stock trader, a civil engineer, a hotel chef, a marketer, and a sales and teaching professional turned operations lead. Now all five are CPS graduate students, and they want to make NUPM the resource they wish they'd had, with peer-led trainings, a central hub for certifications and faculty guidance, and a stronger link to the local PMI chapter.

We're pulling back the curtain on the students and alumni of Northeastern's College of Professional Studies, sharing the paths that led them here and where their stories have taken them since. These aren't polished success stories. Congratulations to Professor Joseph Griffin, CPS's Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, named a 2026 honoree of PMI's David I. Cleland Project Management Literature Award — one of PMI's top academic honors.

Griffin shares the recognition with co-authors Alejandro Romero-Torres (UQAM) and Shankar Sankaran (University of Technology Sydney) for their book, Case Studies on Project Management in Practice. He'll be celebrated at the PMI Global Summit in Detroit this week.

"It takes everybody to step up and become partners with public school systems."

Northeastern educators recently sat down with public school practitioners to talk about AI in the classroom. The goal was to listen as much as to share: what makes sense in their work with students, what isn't working, and what looks different from outside the university.

One concern came up again and again. Well-resourced districts may introduce students to AI tools earlier, and what starts as early exposure can quietly become a later expectation, creating a divide between the haves and have-nots. By sharing the right and wrong ways Northeastern has used AI in its own classrooms, our faculty can help teachers skip some of the hard lessons and pass that confidence on to their students.

For everyone in the conversation, the mission is the same: ensuring equitable access to rigorous learning. When universities and public schools work as partners, students gain the confidence to use these tools on par with those at the cutting edge, and everyone benefits.
