This Fall’s “The Last Lecture” features PSLS’s very own wonderful Rachael Cobb! We are so proud of the recognition of Professor Cobb for all she does for Suffolk and the community.

📆 Tuesday, October 14th, 2026, from 5:30 - 7:00 PM in The Smith Commons on the 5th Floor of Sargent Hall.

The Last Lecture is a special tradition inspired by Randy Pausch’s famous The Last Lecture, which invites a member of a community to reflect on their experiences, lessons learned, meaningful moments, and the wisdom they would want to share if they were giving one final lecture. In our case, it is based on the idea of a “last lecture”, but it is not actually Dr. Cobb’s last lecture.

The evening will begin with a reception, followed by Dr. Cobb’s Last Lecture, with the reception continuing afterward. It will be a wonderful opportunity to gather with colleagues, celebrate Rachael, and enjoy what we know will be a memorable evening.

There are 3 days left in the Suffolk Votes BALLOT QUESTION SCAVENGER HUNT! This is part of National Voter Education Week October 5–9 🗳️

You’ll explore nine posters featuring information about the Massachusetts ballot questions. A ballot question
is a proposal that voters decide on directly. It may create a new law, repeal an existing law, or amend a state constitution. (Ballot questions can also be called ballot initiatives, referendums, or propositions.) Depending on state law, ballot measures can
be proposed by legislators or by members of the public.

At each stop of our scavenger hunt, you’ll read the information and think about how you might vote. Your
choices are completely private—no one will ask you to share your preferences.

How to participate:

Start at the Mildred F. Sawyer Library and pick up a scavenger hunt checklist.
Visit all nine poster locations.
Read the information about each ballot question.
Bring your completed checklist to the Sawyer Library Circulation or Reference Desk.
Staff will stamp the back of your checklist so you can enter the raffle.
You could win a $100 Amazon gift card!

Deadline: Friday, October 9!

I think it’s safe to say the was a fan favorite this trip🏆

Thank you to everyone at the Stimson Center who took the time to speak with us. The conversations around independent research and the importance of staying skeptical were ones we won’t forget.

We learned so much, and we are so grateful!
