The Franklin Cummings Tech Fall Career Fair wrapped up this afternoon with a session focused on connecting our Cybersecurity students with top employers in their field!

Through our new career fair format, students and alums met with company representatives round-robin-style during industry-specific timeslots throughout the day:

10am-Noon: Automotive
Noon-2pm: Construction Management
2pm-4pm: Cybersecurity

This was a very successful event for both the students and employers! Many thanks to the employers from all industries who came to our flagship campus in Roxbury and to the students for representing the college so well.

Turn the lesson into a game show called "Electrical Jeopardy"!
Everything that pertains to HVAC&R Technology.

FC Tech HVAC&R Technology Chair Vanessa Hackett and Instructors Tom Pagliarulo and Kerween Desrosiers yesterday served as the game's high-energy hosts, tossing out questions designed to help our first-semester HVAC&R students prepare for upcoming lab assignments using state-of-the-art trainer machines.

Student teams earned points for answering questions correctly, with the top team earning bragging rights over their classmates and some raffle tickets to enter into a campus-wide raffle.

HVAC&R Technology is now enrolling for January 2027!

Students in the Practical Electricity certificate program at our new Billerica campus shared some of the fundamentals of the electrical field that they've learned in the first few weeks of classes.

Our inaugural Billerica cohort is an enthusiastic group of learners who are eager to gain the skills that will launch them into careers such as licensed electricians, utility operators, robotics technicians, and more.

Our Cybersecurity program kicked off the fall semester with an engaging panel discussion about innovations and career opportunities in the computer information technology field, hosted by program chair Dr. Fathima James.

Students and guests heard industry insights and got some great career advice from:

🌟 Maria Victoria Davila – 2025 Cybersecurity program graduate who is working as a CyberSecurity Analyst at Arbella Insurance Group while pursuing her bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity at Boston College
🛡️ Meghan Martinez – Director, Cyber Range Programs at CyberTrust Massachusetts
🚀 Maxwell Fathy – Senior Program Manager, Cybersecurity Innovation at MassCyberCenter

The program was a great networking and learning opportunity for our first-year and second-year Cybersecurity associate degree students, as well as students from our Fundamentals of Cybersecurity program (offered in partnership with El Centro/Catholic Charities Boston).

National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15) recognizes the achievements and contributions of Latinx/Hispanic champions who have inspired others to achieve success.

Did you know that National Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15 each year because it coincides with the national independence days for many Latin American countries, including Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica? Mexico’s national independence day follows on the 16th, while Chile’s occurs on the 18th, and Belize’s is on the 21st.

Anyone can celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month and show their appreciation for Hispanic and Latino Americans by reading books by authors of Hispanic or Latino origin, watching movies about Hispanic and Latino culture, and going to local events that celebrate the contributions of Hispanic and Latino people have made to US society.

We were thrilled to welcome more than 350 new students to Franklin Cummings Tech this fall — our largest-ever incoming class — to start hands-on training for high-wage careers in technology and trades! This is the first fall class at our new, purpose-built campus in Roxbury, which opened in January. New and returning students showed up eager to learn and ready to make connections, both in and out of the classroom. Their energy is infectious and it's already shaping up to be a great semester.
