The Graduate Programs in Conflict Resolution are designed to allow students and professionals to explore the practice, design, and evaluation of a variety of conflict management and resolution applications; and in-depth investigation of conflict in specific settings. Students learn about

the causes, dynamics, and consequences of conflict in different settings, from organizational to international. Classes are scheduled in the late afternoon, evening and on weekends to accommodate working professionals. The Graduate Certificate in Conflict Resolution program offers a range of concentrations leading to a variety of certificate options. The Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution program is a two-year, interdisciplinary, professional degree program. The program offers concentrations in organizational conflict and international conflict. The International Relations MA program is a two-year, interdisciplinary, professional degree program. It was introduced in 2001 to add a global dimension to the McCormack Graduate School’s offerings in public service. Our alumni, prepared both to think theoretically and to apply the tools and methodologies to analyze a wide range of international public policy issues, have gone on to a variety of positions in both the public and private sectors within the United States and abroad. The new PhD Program in Global Governance and Human Security will opened it doors to its first cohort in fall 2012. The goal of this program is to prepare students to be creative problem solvers and equip them with knowledge and skills needed to address a number of contemporary global concerns. The program will focus on outcomes that matter most to individuals—a secure form of economic welfare and human development, ecological sustainability, public health, education, human rights, and political freedom— and on the interrelationships among them. The program’s primary tracks will mirror the interconnected strands of a set of global issues: conflict resolution, the environment, gender, human rights and human security, global political economy, human development, and global public health. Students who wish to explore a new area of inquiry can elect to develop their own track and course of study.
