Grab your lawn blanket and join us on Saturday Aug 29th as we close out the summer season with an uplifting and fun movie, MAMMA MIA. A classic movie starring Meryl Streep and a dozen other great actors. The free movie event begins at dusk and music starting at 6:30 PM.

Wear your ND gear, as you’ll see some of us positioning ourselves on the lawn, the best way to enter is through the glass doors near Blue Bottle. If it rain, please still come and we will grab a drink or mocktail at Yardhouse in the mall and enjoy each other's company.

Questions; ask Dede Simon [email protected] and put MAMMA MIA in the subject line please.

The ND Club of Greater Boston held our annual “student send off” today at Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood. The event was combined with the UND Celebration featuring Mike Hildreth, Dean of the Graduate School, Associate Provost and Vice President for Graduate Studies, and Professor of Physics & Astronomy.

The student send off gives local students and parents the opportunity to meet each other and start the process of becoming part of the Notre Dame community. Who doesn’t remember your own send off event sponsored by the local alumni club.

Notre Dame Interns Reflect on Time with Catholic Charities of Boston - This summer marked the second in a row Catholic Charities has hosted Notre Dame student interns through the university’s Institute for Social Concerns, part of the NDBridge program. Among the interns’ responsibilities were working at Catholic Charities’ childcare centers and four food pantries, helping clients and supporting the agency’s continued efforts to meet the surging demand for food assistance.

After a summer helping those in the greatest need, supporting the operations of a non-profit, and immersed in Catholic Charities Boston’s mission of compassionate service, the ND student interns presented what they learned during their experiences with the agency.

The ND Club of Greater Boston sponsored a “Habitat for Humanity Build Day” this past Saturday.

Our group of 8 volunteers (plus Habitat for Humanity staff & CEO Jim Kostaras) were in Roslindale to help with the building of two multi-family homes.

Habitat for Humanity was grateful for our Club volunteers as every Habitat for Humanity home is built 70 % by VOLUNTEERS (only electrical and plumbing is subbed out).

We had 8 ND volunteers from various years of graduation and across a broad range of careers. The group even included a current student home for the summer.

The day was a great experience and some alums remarked they had never used a power tool, saw or drill before, and proudly felt accomplished.

In addition to volunteering in person, click the link below to donate to this cause: https://habitatboston.org/, as this four-unit building is still 10 months from being completed.

Notre Dame alums turned up at Women’s Lunch Place this past weekend to scoop and serve cool ice cream with toppings individually to all the guests compliments of Mark Lippolt ( also in photo) of St Cecilia’s Homelessness Ministry. Who doesn’t love ice cream during the hot summer!!

Women’s Lunch Place can always use volunteers. For more information on how to help please see https://womenslunchplace.org/

Also attending was BHCHP Nurse practioner Julie in who was there today to see guests.

Women’s Lunch Place inspires hope and supports the development of self-sustaining skills for women experiencing hunger, homelessness, and poverty. We create a safe, welcoming day shelter community in which we respect the dignity of our guests. We build trusting relationships to provide individualized, integrated services focused on nutrition, health, housing, and economic empowerment.
