Hello NEU Sociology,

My name is Meghan Hassett, and I'm a Campaign Organizer with Environment Massachusetts, working on our 100% Renewable Energy campaign. I've got a couple upcoming opportunities for students to get involved, and it would be great if you could pass along the below information. Feel free to include my info so people can contact me directly as well.

Stronger climate and clean energy leadership from the states is crucial as we're seeing federal-level rollbacks to key environmental protections. However, we know incremental improvements aren't going to be enough to prevent disasters like Hurricane Harvey or Irma protect our communities from dangerous pollution. Environment Massachusetts is organizing around a visionary commitment to continue Massachusetts' legacy of environmental leadership, working to pass the 100% Renewable Energy bill in the Statehouse!

I'm hiring interns and looking for volunteers to help out on the campaign, to organize events around the state, generate a buzz in the media, and build grassroots support from students. Students can read more and apply at http://www.weareimpact.org/internship-apply.html

I also wanted to invite students to attend an event we're organizing on September 19th at the Statehouse. There are committee hearings on a number of renewable energy bills, including the 100% Renewable Energy Act, from 1PM-5PM. In order to build and demonstrate widespread support and feasibility for our state legislators, we're going to have a rally and media event at noon on the 19th on the steps of the Statehouse. I'd love if you could pass along the info. Let me know! Folks can RSVP HERE: https://goo.gl/forms/j69jUG20IBji9IYL2
