Now in its 14th year, the Emmanuel College Artist-in-Residence (ECAR) program hosts working and emerging artists for six weeks each summer.

The artists receive time and space for creativity. Emmanuel receives opportunities for students to learn from working artists—with the residents exhibiting their work on campus in July!

“It’s really about building bridges and bringing people in,” said Associate Professor of Art Stephan Jacobs, who runs the ECAR program. “It gives students a chance to interact with people who are working in art and maybe start to build their own networks a bit.”

Reflecting on her Emmanuel experience post-graduation, one thing really stuck for history major Emilly Rezende '26: mentorship and support from faculty.

“It’s about understanding that they want to get to know you, and their doors were always open. All you have to do is advocate for yourself and ask for help. I had this motto, closed mouths don’t get fed.”

The memory of Jack Connors Jr., a longtime friend of Emmanuel College, was honored yesterday with the unveiling of his statue outside 200 Clarendon, formerly known as the Hancock Tower.

Not only a prominent Boston business leader and philanthropist, Jack was a champion of Emmanuel, playing a key role in maintaining the vibrancy of the College’s Catholic educational mission. As a two-time trustee, honorary degree recipient and generous benefactor, he left a lasting impact that will be felt in the lives of Emmanuel students past, present and future.

In his speech at the College’s 2024 Commencement Exercises, he encouraged graduates to pursue a path that brings them happiness – and to be the architects of their own destiny.

A new statue of civic leader Jack Connors was unveiled in Back Bay on Tuesday.

Emmanuel's latest pair of Beckman Scholars has been announced!

Congratulations to psychology & neuroscience major Precious Kamara '28 (left) and biotechnology major Maya Berg '28 (right) for being selected for the prestigious opportunity.

As Beckman Scholars, Kamara and Berg will begin working on a long-term research project with a dedicated faculty mentor - a unique and intensive approach to academic research.

Emmanuel celebrates partnerships that create opportunities for students and solutions for local businesses!

The Emmanuel Business Collaborative (EBC) hosted more than 20 area businesses for its annual Partnership Breakfast on June 2. 🤝

The keynote speaker was Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce VP Amber Haskell; she highlighted the win-win nature of EBC partnerships, where students gain real-world experience by applying what they’ve learned in the School of Business & Management to help local businesses thrive.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Emmanuel Business Collaborative for all the work they do to bring students and small businesses together, creating great outcomes for both,” said Haskell.

Building community through learning and problem solving; it’s the Emmanuel way.

The Biology Department at Emmanuel is golden! 🏅

The program recently earned a gold medal from the Partnership for Undergraduate Life Sciences Education (PULSE), a nationally recognized nonprofit that promotes outstanding and inclusive instruction.

Following a comprehensive review of the Biology Department, PULSE praised its focus on inclusivity, saying it’s “probably the best equity work the site visitors have seen from colleges participating in the PULSE Recognition Program.”

The school’s focus on student-centered teaching and hands-on learning experiences also received high marks.

"We were thrilled to learn that the PULSE reviewers recognized our approaches to fostering student success as innovative and effective," said Associate Professor of Biology Dr. Anupama Seshan.

Recently named Chief Resident at University of Chicago Medical Center, an alum from the Class of 2017, Courtney Sniffen, MD had her eyes on medical education since her Emmanuel undergraduate days – but she didn’t always anticipate that she’d be in such an esteemed leadership position.

“I used to think to be a leader you had to be loud and command so much attention, but over time I realized you can find your own leadership style, and show that you can lead in your own way,” she said.

Discovering her own approach to leading as a peer tutor at Emmanuel, Sniffen took the experience with her as she continues to pursue her passion for medical education.
