From leading student organizations to cutting-edge research, James Tukpah’s Northeastern journey is one worth celebrating this . As an undergraduate, James served as president of the Black Engineering Student Society creating space for connection, mentorship, and excellence among Black engineers on campus. Today, as a Northeastern alumnus and current Ph.D. student, he’s taking that same passion for impact into the lab. As a researcher in Northeastern’s Robotics and Intelligent Vehicles Research Laboratory (RIVeR Lab), he is helping develop award-winning technology that uses advanced sensors and autonomous systems to assess wildfire conditions and support prevention efforts.

Whether he’s empowering future engineers or advancing technology that could help protect communities around the world, James continues to embody what it means to lead with vision and make an impact.

to this year’s JDOAAI Baccalaureate 🎓🖤✨

Still thinking about the love, laughter, tears, and celebration that filled the room as we honored the Class of 2026. Moments like these are a reminder that graduation is about more than a degree - it’s about community, legacy, and everyone who helped make the journey possible.

Forever proud of our graduates 💫
