Dr. Ingber, Founding Director of the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering, will present: "Biologically Inspired Engineering: Organs-on-Chips and the Future of Convergent Medicine"

Join us as Dr. Ingber explores how biologically inspired engineering—from human organs-on-chips to the structural principles that govern biology—is accelerating the translation of laboratory discoveries into real-world therapies, diagnostics, and sustainable technologies.

Proud to highlight another month of impactful research from SOPPS! 🧪

September's publications span microfluidic droplet plates for single human induced pluripotent stem cells, CB1 receptor antagonists that block fentanyl conditioned place preference, top-down and intact protein mass spectrometry, reproducible quantification across BBB models, and the development of a random background for optimization.

Proud to spotlight PhD student Lucy Williamson, snapped hard at work by NU photographer Matthew Modonno, conducting cancer cell research in a Whitley H35 Hypoxystation, which creates hypoxic conditions within a controlled and sustained workstation environment in the Mugar Life Sciences building. Grateful for the important health research our students and faculty bring to life every day! 🔬🐾

Congratulations to Hannah Kim on being selected for the 2026–2027 Phi Lambda Sigma Leader Academy, a national program designed to help good leaders become great leaders! 🎉

Hannah has been instrumental in developing the Charles C. Thomas Annual Leadership Challenge awards, which our Gamma Kappa chapter has earned for two years running. We're proud to see her join a group of highly motivated pharmacy leaders from around the nation! 👏

Congratulations to Dr. Jie Shen on receiving a Massachusetts Life Sciences Center Women's Health Initiative award! 🎉

Dr. Shen's project, "Immune-Directed Therapeutic Program to Reduce End-Organ Damage and Prevent Preterm Birth in Preeclampsia," advances research in Pregnancy-Induced Hypertension, a prevalent but historically underfunded area the initiative is working to address.

Her award is part of more than $10 million in funding for 33 projects that will advance women's health research, foster new collaborations between companies and academic institutions, and support conditions that uniquely, disproportionately, or differently affect women. We're proud to see our faculty driving discovery in women's health. 👏
