The program’s inaugural cohort is made up of students from across the country who travelled to the Manchester campus for orientation and to receive their white coats. These students will complete most of their coursework online and return to campus once a year to connect with their peers and complete labs.

As an inpatient occupational therapist at Frisbie Memorial Hospital, Abbie McCaffrey, ’22, treats patients who are going through life-changing medical episodes.

It’s her job to get to know them, make them comfortable, and take steps to kickstart their healing journey.

“I have extended time to really get to know my patients and what interventions will work for their life,” she said. “It’s rare in healthcare to be a person patients can truly rely on, so I like being that person for them.”

Psychology Professor Dr. Amanda Kentner-Kuzmiski was awarded a Massachusetts Life Sciences Center grant for a two-year study of pregnancy-induced hypertension risk. Her study, Maternal Hypothalamic Reorganization and Brain-Derived Extracellular Vesicles as Early Biomarkers of Pregnancy-Induced Hypertension Risk, brings together researchers from MCPHS and Boston Children’s Hospital.
