We're proud to celebrate the success of Criminal Justice alumna Darien Lavino, who has been appointed to a new position with the Massachusetts Trial Court Probation Department after serving with distinction as a Chelsea Police Officer.

Darien is a former President of the Fisher College Criminal Justice Club and has always demonstrated a commitment to service, leadership, and helping others. During her time with the Chelsea Police Department, she earned praise for her energy, compassion, and dedication to the community. As she takes this next step in her criminal justice career, we know she will continue to make a positive impact in the lives of those she serves.

Congratulations, Darien! Your Fisher College Criminal Justice family is proud of all you have accomplished, and we wish you continued success in this exciting new chapter.

Legal interns work on a variety of tasks required for litigation and other legal advocacy, including complaint investigation, legal research and memo writing, drafting of complaints, affidavits, and discovery requests; as well as preparation of pretrial motions, trial preparation, drafting of appellate briefs, and preparation for oral arguments.

🗳️ Your Voice Matters: Get Ready for the Massachusetts State Primary!

The Massachusetts State Primary Election is coming up on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Voting is one of the most important ways to participate in your community and help shape policies that affect criminal justice, public safety, education, and more.

📅 Important Dates

✅ Register to Vote Deadline: August 22, 2026

✅ Early Voting: August 22-28, 2026

✅ Vote-by-Mail Application Deadline: August 25, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.

✅ Primary Election Day: September 1, 2026 (Polls open 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.)

📍 Who Can Register to Vote in Massachusetts?

You can register if you are:

• A U.S. citizen
• A Massachusetts resident
• At least 18 years old by Election Day (16- and 17-year-olds may pre-register)
• Not currently incarcerated due to a felony conviction

🎓 College Students Living in Boston

Many students don't realize that if they live in Boston while attending college, they may choose to register and vote in Massachusetts using their Boston address, even if they are originally from another state. There is no residency waiting period, meaning you can register as soon as you establish residence in Boston. Remember, you can only vote in one state for the same election.
