The laboratory exercise provided students with the opportunity to examine and differentiate the microscopic appearances of methamphetamine hydrochloride from commonly encountered 𝐜𝐫𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐦 (𝐭𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐬), 𝐢𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐭, 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐬𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐠𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 (𝐯𝐞𝐭𝐬𝐢𝐧), 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐠𝐚𝐫. Through this activity, students enhanced their competencies in microscopic examination and crystal morphology recognition - fundamental skills in forensic drug identification and laboratory analysis.

The activity was conducted under the supervision and guidance of the subject adviser, 𝑬𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒆 𝑳. 𝑬𝒈𝒂𝒚, 𝑹𝑪𝒓𝒊𝒎., 𝑭𝑪𝑻𝑺, with the presence of faculty evaluator, 𝑺𝒊𝒓 𝑬𝒈𝒖𝒏𝒂, 𝑹𝑪𝒓𝒊𝒎., 𝑸𝑫𝑬𝑺 whose profound knowledge, technical competence, and insightful contributions were instrumental in the success of the activity and in the advancement of the students’ scientific and analytical abilities.

Through meaningful laboratory experiences, the 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐚 – 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 continues to bridge classroom instruction with practical application, cultivating future criminology professionals equipped with the knowledge, discipline, and investigative skills essential in the field of forensic science.

The 𝑪𝒓𝒊𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒚 𝑫𝒆𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 of 𝑳𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒄𝒚 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒂, under the expertise and guidance of 𝗠𝗥. 𝗝𝗘𝗙𝗙 𝗡. 𝗘𝗚𝗨𝗡𝗔, 𝗥𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗠., 𝗤𝗗𝗘𝗦 conducted the Deciphering Invisible Writing Activity in 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒄 𝟒: 𝑸𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝑫𝒐𝒄𝒖𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑬𝒙𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, providing students with hands-on exposure to the principles and techniques used in the detection and examination of concealed writings.

The activity involved the preparation of invisible writings using different substances such as lemon juice, vinegar, and chlorine, applied through various writing instruments including a barbecue stick, quill, and nail. After the specimens had completely dried, controlled heat was applied to reveal the hidden messages. Students observed and compared the visibility, contrast, and time interval required for each specimen to become legible, providing a practical understanding of how hidden writings can be recovered through scientific methods.

Through this laboratory exercise, students gained firsthand experience in the decipherment of invisible writings and the application of forensic document examination techniques. The activity highlighted the importance of careful observation, scientific analysis, and attention to detail in uncovering information concealed within questioned documents.

This learning experience reinforced the role of forensic science in revealing evidence that may not be immediately visible, demonstrating that even a seemingly blank document can contain valuable information awaiting discovery.

The first laboratory activity in 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒄 𝑪𝒉𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑻𝒐𝒙𝒊𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒚 focused on the morphological differentiation of the microscopic appearance of “Cannabis sativa” from selected plant species, including Eggplant (Solanum melongena), Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus), Lantana (Lantana camara), and squash (Cucurbita spp.) 🌿

🔬Through careful examination and comparison of leaf morphology, the students identified the distinct characteristics that distinguish the microscopic appearance of Cannabis sativa from other plants with similar appearances.

👩🏻‍🔬This activity strengthened students observation, analysis, and identification skills essential competencies in forensic science where accuracy and attention to detail are paramount.

For seven intensive and knowledge-filled days, participants underwent specialized training designed to enhance their skills, discipline, and understanding in the field of forensic science. From registration and orientation up to the final Moot Court Presentation and Graduation Day, every activity provided valuable hands-on experience and deeper learning.

📍The training covered various topics and practical exercises including Forensic Chemistry & Toxicology, Dangerous Drugs Examination, Gunshot Residue Testing, Blood and Seminal Stain Examination, DNA Blood Grouping, Moulage Casting, Hair Follicle Examination, Macro-Etching Examination, Marked Money Identification, and Regional Forensic Unit Visits.

📍Participants also strengthened their expertise in Questioned Document Examination through discussions and practical activities involving Handwriting Examination, Signature and Forgery Detection, Document Examination, Counterfeited Money Identification, and the highly challenging Moot Court Presentation where trainees applied their knowledge and skills professionally.
