Today, we celebrated our Tufts University School of Medicine PA students at their White Coat Ceremony.

This ceremony marks the transition from the classroom to caring for patients on clinical rotations.

After months of intensive learning, hard work, and growth, our students are ready to take this exciting next step in their journey toward becoming a curious, humble, and compassionate PA.

Great op-ed by Professor Colangelo

For the final installment of our faculty op-ed series, Tufts PA faculty member Mercedes Colangelo, MPH, PA-C, explores how simulation, interprofessional education and an adaptable curriculum prepare future clinicians to respond to an ever-changing health care landscape.

From trauma and toxicology to emergency deliveries and emerging technologies, Tufts PA students have opportunities to practice making complex decisions, communicating across health professions and adapting under pressure before they encounter these situations in patient care.

As Colangelo writes, the crises of tomorrow will not announce themselves. But the PAs who face them can be prepared.

One of our amazing alumni!

What can The Devil Wears Prada teach us about being a PA? Quite a lot, according to Tufts PA alumnus Andrew Medeiros, PA-C.

In his PA Week 2026 op-ed, “Runway to Resuscitation,” Medeiros draws an unexpected connection between Nigel’s lessons on teamwork and excellence and his own experiences as a cardiac surgery PA at Tufts Medical Center.

From supporting complex cardiac arrests to knowing when to step forward and lead, Medeiros explores what it means to be a PA on a high-acuity, multidisciplinary team and why versatility, adaptability and trust are at the heart of the profession.

“Being a PA means becoming comfortable with both realities: knowing when to support and knowing when to lead.”

Our amazing program director, Rosanne Washington

What happens when a patient comes to primary care for a physical health concern, but there’s something more going on beneath the surface?

For PA Week 2026, Tufts PA Program Director Rosanne Washington, MHS, PA-C, reflects on the important role primary care PAs can play in recognizing mental health concerns, building trust and helping patients navigate access to care.

“Whole-person care” means looking beyond a diagnosis to understand the person behind it.

Read Washington's perspective on how PAs can help bridge gaps in mental health care through meaningful conversations, early intervention and patient-centered support.
