We would like to provide an update on our fall season, especially to incoming freshmen. We are saddened to share that earlier this week, we received news that our fall season had been cancelled. While we are disappointed to hear this, we understand the health risks at play. NIRSA Region 1 is looking into the possibility of a shortened spring season, but a decision on that will not be made until later this fall. BCFC would still like to hold tryouts and practices in the fall, but those are both dependent on Boston College and BC Club Sports guidelines. We will provide further updates as soon as we hear a decision on tryouts and/or practices. Questions? Please email [email protected].

Today, members of BCFC teamed up with to participate in Cycle for Survival for the second year in a row! We combined to raise $3,754 (smashing our goal of $2,000!) to help fund research for rare cancers. A total of over $22 million has been raised through this event. We appreciate and admire the work that , , and have done and continue to do, and we can’t wait to be back next year!

On Sunday October 14th, the Eagles faced Northeastern in a game with a trip to the Regional Tournament on the line. And boy let me tell you, nothing motivates a group of young men more than the possibility of traveling to the amazingly beautiful state that is the mecca of soccer, nay the mecca of life -- Delaware. In the first half, the high-powered offensive prowess of both teams was on full display and the teams headed into halftime tied at 0-0. During halftime, guest coach Ryan "Slingshot" Quish realized that he needed to tell a game-changing catalyst, a goal-scorer, that he needed to step up. With amazing insight, Quish pulled Alec Reiss, the sophomore sensation, to the side. He asked Alec to fill up his water bottle as he talked to, you guessed it, The Defense. We do not want to beat a dead horse here (No pun intended Boston College Equestrian Team), but that group of dashing young men deserves to be heard. After Matthew "Vlo" Fernbach took a cheap dive to earn a corner, Center Back "Noodle" buried home a header to put BC up 1-0. From there, there was never any doubt (except for the three goal-line saves that Freshman Goalie Andrew Rojo had to make). Another day. Another BC win. Another David Sullivan appearance. Another birth in Regionals. Roll Eags.

It's been far too long. But after BCFC's utter manhandling of Andres Sanin and the rest of the BU Terriers, a game report was deemed highly necessary. BC 5-0 BU. Under the crisp night sky of Alumni stadium, the handsome Eagles took the field for their final home game of the season and were surprised by the lack of competition. Despite the ease of the game, in BCFC tradition, the true heroes of the night were unsurprisingly the defenders. And oh what a dashing group of young men they are. Dashing indeed. The scoring was opened after a series of goal-saving tackles from all 4 BC defenders led to a breakaway finish.
Minutes later, Anthony "Seafood" Docanto (true senior) walked by Andres Sanin (who was subbed off minutes later) to double the lead. After a rousing halftime speech from Coach Bob "Bob" Napolitano (25, full-time young professional) the defenders once again set the tone early as they connected 28 passes in a row before sending a dangerous ball over the top that resulted in an own goal from BU. For the fourth score of the night, Coach Bob's "Bob" daring tactics put the ball on a tee for Chris "Squash" Donnelly (false senior) to nail into the net. With the result all but confirmed, the defense carried the ball coast to coast before passing around the keeper for the ball to be tapped in, thus securing their hat trick of assists. Another game without a goal from Match MVP Alec "Chiquita" Reiss (true sophomore) who will look to break his two year scoring drought next week as BCFC battles Northeastern. But as starting center back Andrew "Eggnog" Constantine eloquently puts it, "It's not the name on the back of the jersey that matters, it's the defense."

The Lads after winning Regionals in PKs! See you in Phoenix!

31/10/2017

Good morning BCFC fans! We have some very exciting news!

This past weekend, the Lads travelled down to Delaware to compete in the NIRSA Regional Tournament. This tournament pitted the top teams in the region (composed of teams from New England and the Mid-Atlantinc) against each other in a two-day tournament. After going undefeated in the regular season and winning the Division Title for the second year in a row, BCFC was ranked #2 in the entire region. Our group consisted of Syracuse, Drexel, and University of Vermont, three highly competitive teams. The Lads rolled through the group stage, winning all three of their games. We then played Northeastern in the Quarterfinal game. With the rain pouring down and the pitch rendered into a mud bath, the boys fought hard, winning 2-1. We progressed into the final game, beating UConn in a PK thriller, becoming Regional Champions for the first time in a decade.

This unbelievable performance (winning 5 games in the span of two days) earned the Eagles a ticket to the National Tournament in Phoenix, AZ. The National Tournament will see BC (with an undergraduate population of less than 10,000) go up against the top club soccer teams in the nation, from schools like the University of Florida, Ohio State, and UC San Diego. This trip will give us the opportunity to earn the title of National Champions, and we can't wait to share our progress with you.

However, like all things in life, the trip is not free. While we do receive funding from the University, it is not enough to cover all of our expenses. Therefore, we are asking our fans to donate if at all possible to our club, so we can travel to Phoenix and represent our school on the national stage. Please find the link to donate below, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts in advance.

We look forward to bringing the national championship back to Boston.

Cheers,

BCFC
