It’s the 1980s at SMFA. 230 the Fenway has just been renovated and doubled in size. Bess assumes her place greeting students at the front entrance. The school’s new Atrium quickly becomes a prime location for art performances by groups like the Mobius Art Group and later, Kaiju Big Battel, who staged wrestling matches with costumed characters and monsters.

It’s our 150th! Follow along with the timeline on our website.

Review boards are nearly here! SMFA was one of the first schools in the country to introduce review boards into the curriculum. They can be an adjustment for students and faculty accustomed to a more traditional structure, but as Professor of the Practice Charles Goss says, “It’s about becoming an entrepreneur in creativity.”

Good luck to all SMFA students wrapping up the semester!
