🎉Jesse Moreira-Bouchard received the 2026 Whitney R. Powers Award for Teaching Excellence. This honor recognizes their exceptional commitment to student-centered teaching, inclusive pedagogy, scholarly leadership, and curriculum innovation.

Exciting news!

The Sargent Center for Simulated Clinical Experiences is piloting a new collaboration with Boston University’s College of Fine Arts (CFA) to expand our standardized patient (SP) pool.

This semester, we have partnered with undergraduate acting students who are receiving structured orientation, observation, and individualized coaching to prepare for SP roles in simulation-based learning. The primary goal of this initiative is to increase access to younger adult SPs and broaden the age diversity and authenticity of our simulated patient population.

Beginning in Fall 2026, we anticipate incorporating these acting students into selected simulation activities across Sargent programs, enhancing learners’ opportunities to practice communication, clinical reasoning, and professional behaviors with a wider range of patient presentations.

Faculty interested in incorporating SPs into upcoming simulations—or who have cases that would benefit from younger adult SPs—are encouraged to contact the Sim Center team at [email protected]

Sargent College's Entry-level Doctorate of Occupational Therapy program recently had five students participate in the 2026 Intercollegiate Assistive Technology Hackathon.

🎉Congratulations to Natasha Vinluan (OTD '27), whose team took home the "Most Collaborative" award, Molly Rathbun (OTD '28), whose team took home the "Most Functional" award, and to Mary Kate Clougherty (OTD '27), Anida Guha (OTD '27), and Gabrielle Martinez (OTD '27), who also participated in creating innovative assistive technology devices for real-world clients.

🎉Congratulations to the SLHS department for being so well represented at the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders' annual conference!

Caroline Brinkert was an invited speaker presenting a talk titled "Training GPTs for Clinical Simulation: AI-Augmented Learning."

Kelly Hansen gave an oral presentation titled "From Classroom to Clinic: Leveraging AI Simulations for Clinical Readiness," as well as a poster titled "Advancing Dysphagia Simulation: Integrating Standards of Best Practice for SLP Training," co-authored with Rachael Kammer and Samantha Brown.
