Welcome back! The UW Bothell Mathematics Society is holding
club officer elections for 2022 – 2023!

We are looking forward to seeing everyone back on campus!
We need five officers to work on planning events, making connections in industry and academia alike, and building up participation in club activities.

The officer roles are:

President*: Organizing events, scheduling and leading officer meetings, delegating details

Vice President*: Taking notes at meetings, helping with event prep, helping with president's tasks

Treasurer*: making budget requests from UWB Club Council
Public Relations: Designing, printing and putting up posters to promote events. Experience with graphics software (e.g. Adobe Illustrator) is an asset.

Social Media Manager: Publicizing events on the UWB Math Society Facebook, Instagram, and/or other social media sites.
* Position requires attending Officer training through UWB Club Council in the Fall quarter.

Self nominations are welcome and encouraged! A math major/minor is not required - just a love for mathematics and an interest in providing opportunities for UWB students to engage with each other and professionals on the subject. We do ask that nominees plan to be full-time students at UWB through to Spring of 2023.

Dr. Pierre Mourad and Dr. Pietro Paparella with the University of Washington Bothell School of STEM were awarded first place in the NW Innovation Resource Center’s Amazon Catalyst Competition in the city of Everett.

In March 2020, Paparella approached Mourad with a forward-thinking idea that he believed could improve the lives of the approximately 25 million asthmatics currently living in the U.S. — a smart inhaler that monitors and tracks rescue inhaler usage on a smartphone.
