This weekend, enjoy a classical musical experience with guest quartet Poiesis! 🎻 ⭐ ️

We are so excited to welcome Poiesis as part of our Takács Quartet Series this year. Poiesis is an award-winning quartet recognized by the New York Times, Chamber Music America, and Banff International String Quartet Competition. 🎶

Catch the quartet in Grusin Hall on Sunday and Monday (Oct.4-5), the quartet’s program, titled “A Better World,” presents a beautiful selection of pieces that represent stories and societal topics relevant to our current day.

This week, Associate Director of Bands Logan Sorey and drum major Jason Born shared about the Golden Buffalo Marching Band at a luncheon with the Buffalo Belles who are committed to supporting athletic scholarships and more. Sorey talked about the three fight songs—"Glory Colorado," "Go Colorado" and "Fight CU"—and Peggy Coppom ("Miss Peggy") even helped him teach the Belles the words to "Go Colorado." We look forward to Homecoming Weekend 2026 and the CU Boulder 150th halftime show: Sko Buffs!

This week, our Dean John Davis hit the road again: This time, representing our College of Music at the National Association of Music Executives at State Universities (NAMESU) conference in Delavan, Wisconsin:

"Another highly productive NAMESU conference learning from chairs, directors and deans of music programs from across the country about strategies, common challenges, recommendations and successful approaches on a myriad of topics associated with the important work of supporting music in higher education," he shares.

"Thank you to the University of Wisconsin-Madison Mead Witter School of Music for hosting this year’s conference, and particularly to Mead Witter School of Music Director Dan Cavanagh and Assistant Director Wendy Johnson!"

A little over a month into the semester, and already so many notable student successes in the books...

Congratulations to our ensembles on a host of successful performances in Macky Auditorium last week! The Symphony Orchestra featured our tuba TA Jesse Factor for Prokofiev's Fifth Symphony, a suite from The Three Cornered Hat by Manuel de Falla, and a new work by Professor Annika Socolovsky.

We're looking forward to the opera cycle presenting Steven Sondheim's Sweeney Todd!
