Positive Emotion & Psychopathology Lab

Positive Emotion & Psychopathology Lab We study positive emotion from both clinical and affective science perspectives Can feeling good be a predictor of negative mental health outcomes?

We know that positive emotions motivate us to pursue important goals, savor experiences, counteract the cardiovascular effects of stress, and maintain vital social bonds. However, a relatively untouched question remains — Can positive emotions also be a source of dysfunction? Although work in affective science reveals critical insights regarding associated dysfunctions of negative emotion states,

research has failed to delineate the nature of positive emotion disturbance using the theoretical lens and methodological tools of affective science.

Hi PEP Lab Followers:

My students and lab are trying to fundraise to support our ability to continue to study changes in mental health for young adults before and during COVID-19. We can learn a lot about how young adults cope with stress and the changes that social isolation and uncertainty has posed on different paths of wellness and vulnerability. We created a webpage below with a specific CU Boulder donation link for our team's work and would be grateful if you know or anyone you know can spread the word around. Link below for reference.

Dr. Gruber and her team have been actively involved in addressing a critical and growing nation-wide concern regarding the mental health and well-being of college students before, during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic. We adopt a multi-method approach that incorporates remote-based survey measures...

The CU Boulder BFA Student Affairs Committee just finished its series of focus groups with undergraduate and graduate students to identify barriers to student learning and success that hybrid and remote-learning classes have created this semester. We would like to give those students who were unable to join us a chance to share their perspectives by completing a brief anonymous survey below. If you are CU student and have a few minutes, please consider taking this survey.
