University of Colorado Boulder Italian Program

University of Colorado Boulder Italian Program To promote the study of the Italian language, its manifestations in history, and its usage in the current cultural and social context.

The Italian Division at the University of Colorado features four tenure-line faculty members and several instructors and lecturers. Faculty specialize in the Italian Renaissance, in modern literature and cinema, and in media and culture. Instructors provide additional expertise in art history, theater, business, and contemporary Italian culture. Members of the division have produced several books and textbooks in the last four years, and CU ranks among the leaders nationally in number of majors and minors in the program, making it an excellent place to receive a rich and rewarding experience in Italian language and culture. The program collaborates with several study-abroad programs, and students can choose either a minor or a major in Italian. The department also offers a new joint Certificate Program with Engineering. Happy Italian-American Heritage and Culture Month! In the month of October we celebrate the many achievements and contributions of Italian immigrants and their descendants living in the United States.

A wonderful way to celebrate is to visit the Mother Cabrini Shrine in Golden this weekend. Monday is Cabrini Day, honoring St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, patron saint of immigrants and the first Italian American Saint. It is the first paid state holiday in the nation recognizing a woman.

Come to the shrine to attend mass, climb the steps, attend the Festival of Nations (today, 12-3 pm).

Since 2020, Colorado has honored St. Frances Xavier Cabrini with Cabrini Day - the first paid state holiday in the nation recognizing a woman. Each year, this day gives us the opportunity to gather in prayer, celebrate Mother Cabrini's life and legacy, and rejoice in the community she continues to i...

Buon Ferragosto!
Oggi 15 agosto è Festa Nazionale e religiosa in tutta Italia. Gli italiani celebrano con picnic, scampagnate, gite al mare o in montagna.
