Boulder Betas

Boulder Betas NATIONAL: The largest Latino-based social fraternity established on cultural understanding and wisdom. LOCAL: Our chapter entity began before 1991.

We are the Most Honorable Lambda Legacy Chapter of Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity Incorporated located at the University of Colorado Boulder, founded April 14th, 1991. Founded on April 4, 1986 at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa, the organization is committed to create and expand multicultural leadership, promote academic excellence, advance cultural awareness and service while

influencing its mission amongst all dedicated collegiate men worldwide. Sigma Lambda Beta prides itself in its vast multicultural membership as we believe in the fairness, opportunity, and equality of all men without regard to their race, color, or ethnic background. With an increase of latinos in higher education from the 1970s and 1980s, there was a need to further solidify the need of a sense of family and unity. Unfortunately, many of the same issues we tackle today as people of color are similar of those from yesterday. Creating a unified membership would help ease those struggles and help support people of color in higher education. Therefore, 7 men looked for opportunities in an untraditional matter. A fraternal brotherhood that was slowly establishing itself through out the nation: Sigma Lambda Beta. The fraternity fit the ideals both wanted and needed in the Latino community so the seven men pursued establishment at the University of Colorado at Boulder and the Lambda Legacy Chapter was officially founded on April 14, 1991.
