This months student spotlight is Sophomore, Lexi Warren

Here’s a note from her:

“Hi! My name is Lexi Warren! I am from Shipshewana, Indiana and am a sophomore double majoring in Pastoral and Children’s Ministry. I am interning at K1 with the middle school youth group on Wednesday nights and absolutely love it! I also serve with K1 kids on Sunday mornings! My favorite K1 memory was getting to be a counselor at camp with all my kiddos!

You will most likely find me hanging out at a coffee shop or with friends in the library. Coffee is my weakness so if you ever need someone to go explore new coffee shops with, let me know! My family has always been my number one support and my niece is my best friend!

If you are new to Olivet or just need someone encouragement, here is what I will say; make connections with your professors and other people in your classes. They will always have your back. Don’t be afraid to try new things, that’s what this time is for! My favorite ONU memories come from the late nights in the William’s lobby my freshman year!”

Welcome back to campus! This morning we had an STCM meeting where all our students and faculty came together and talked about the upcoming year! We are so excited for what God has in store for our STCM students this year!

This week in Dr. Blanchette’s Children’s Ministry class, students had fun building their version of a “perfect volunteer”. They also had guest speaker, Lindsey Bush from Gathering point church come talk with students about the qualities of a great children’s ministry volunteer and how to recruit them.

Now students are preparing to go into finals week so we ask for prayers for our students in stressful time and prayers for safe travels after.

Meet Dr. Leon Blanchette!

He teaches Christian Education courses here at Olivet. Dr. Blanchette is also the director of the Center of Faith and Family. This always him to help teach parents how to pass faith to their kids. For fun, he loves gardening, hanging out with his grandchildren, and spending time with family. His office is located of 3rd floor Burke. Make sure to stop by and say hi!

Student Spotlight! This month we are celebrating Sophomore, Luke Hutton! Here’s a word from him:
“Hello! My name is Luke Hutton and I am a sophomore Pastoral Ministries major at ONU and I am from Pekin, IL. I am currently an intern at Kankakee first church of the Nazarene, and one of my favorite memories from there is serving with our Wednesday night kids service called journey and meeting all of the 4th graders I work with for the first time! A couple fun facts about me are that I have played the drums for 10 years, I’m a barista at home, and I will be an RA next year. Some advice I would give to other students would be to get involved with campus life as much as possible, dive as deep as you can into your spiritual life, and never forget the privilege it is to be at a university like this…enjoy the time here! Finally, my favorite ONU memory would be going to Shiloh park for the first time to play worship with a small worship team from here!”

This week we had an amazing opportunity to take some of the women of STCM to the Wesleyan Holiness Women Clergy Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Here they got to hear from some amazing women speakers focusing on the theme “Parakaleo” encouraging one another. It was such a great experience getting to see these wonderful women come together and support each other and support many other women in ministry.
