The focus of the WKU School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) is to educate students to be leaders in a changing technical landscape, to provide solutions to the problems facing the modern high tech society, and to provide a workforce to support the technological complexity of industry. WKUPD escorted members of the Engineering department who made history by winning the Concrete Canoe Competition at the 2026 ASCE Civil Engineering Student Championships held at Fairmont State University . This marks first ever society-wide national title.

🏆 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! 🏆

The WKU ASCE Concrete Canoe Team has won the 2026 ASCE Concrete Canoe National Championship!

This year’s canoe, the USS Alliance, celebrates the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States of America—and the students represented WKU with excellence in every part of the competition.

A special congratulations to co-captains Luke Evans and Sophia Adams for their outstanding leadership throughout the year.

This historic victory marks the first national championship in the history of WKU’s Concrete Canoe program and continues an incredible five-year run of top-five national finishes:
