WHY DEEZEE WEDNESDAY 🐢

Today’s Why DeeZee Wednesday is Macey Russell from our Fall ‘23 PC.

Why did you join Delta Zeta?: I joined Delta Zeta for the sisterhood! I knew I wanted a strong support system, as college is full of highs and lows. Once I met the girls in Delta Zeta, I knew I found my home. As I leave and graduate from WKU, I know these friendships will continue to last and bloom through all seasons of life.

What is your favorite memory?: My favorite Delta Zeta memory is any Spring Sing/Shenanigans performances! It truly brings you closer with your sisters and is so much fun! Weeks of practicing, laughing, and working as a team to compete will forever be my favorite. It is so rewarding, and I highly encourage everyone to just do it once!!! I have met some of my very best friends through dancing!

What is your favorite Delta Zeta value?: My favorite Delta Zeta value is friendship. These girls become your backbone in the hardest of times, and your biggest supporters in the highest moments throughout college. Lean on them, love on them, and never take it for granted!!!

What is some advice that you would give to girls going through recruitment?: My favorite Delta Zeta value is friendship. WHY DEEZEE WEDNESDAY 🐢

Today’s Why DeeZee Wednesday is Grace Lay from our Fall ‘25 PC.

Why did you join Delta Zeta?: At first, I joined Delta Zeta because the only people I knew at college had joined. This was because my family and friends were all three and a half hours away, which made it really hard to make new friends. They asked me if I wanted to join and honestly, I could not think of a better idea. I started coming to events, doing things all by myself, and I really started to make friends. Those same friends were like my family. I met my future bridesmaids, my current best friends, and the future memories of my amazing time at college. A split second decision changed my entire life for the better and I would not change anything about it.

What is your favorite memory?: My favorite memory in Delta Zeta was being on the Tug team during Greek Week. I met so many new people and I got to compete with all my friends.

What is your favorite Delta Zeta value?: My favorite value would have to be friendship. Delta Zeta opened up so many opportunities for me to make friends, which was something I desperately needed when I arrived at Western. Now, I have so many amazing ladies that have truly changed my life.

What is some advice that you would give to girls going through recruitment?: My advice would be to be open to new experiences. Meeting new people is so hard, but those very people can end up being your best friends. Do not close yourself off to those opportunities.

WHY DEEZEE WEDNESDAY 🐢

Today’s Why DeeZee Wednesday is Maddie Cain from our Fall ‘25 PC.

Why did you join Delta Zeta?: I decided to join Delta Zeta because once I walked through the doors during the first round of recruitment I could tell the girls were a family. Throughout recruitment, Delta Zeta felt like home because I could be my genuine self. Delta Zeta felt like a place where I could grow and become a better version of myself. The ladies of Delta Zeta are some of the most uplifting and caring people I know! Our philanthropy, speech and hearing, also really sealed the deal for me when I saw that our philanthropy directly helped girls in Delta Zeta.

What is your favorite memory?: My favorite Delta Zeta memory was Dance Big Red 2026! A lot of the girls got together to raise money for such a great cause and we were able to rally over something bigger than ourselves.

What is your favorite Delta Zeta value?: My favorite value is belonging! Belonging is my favorite value because being in Delta Zeta I truly feel like I belong. Walking around campus I feel like I can wave or say hi to a girl and it instantly makes my day better! It’s comforting to know that I have found a home where I am surrounded by women who want to help me and see me grow.

What is some advice that you would give to girls going through recruitment?: My biggest piece of advice would be trust your gut! Whatever your heart tells you is the best thing you can do for yourself!
