WKU Gender & Women's Studies

WKU Gender & Women's Studies Our mission is to broaden knowledge of gender dynamics, globally and historically, with an emphasis on issues central to women's lives.

Gender & Women’s Studies builds on the critical thinking, speaking, writing, and organizational skills that you acquire in your major. Because GWS is an interdisciplinary program, we help you learn how to make connections and to understand the “bigger picture” in ways that will enhance your educational program. You will study how gender powerfully affects personal identity, social interactions, an

d cultural institutions, and further, the often subtle ways that race, sexuality, and class interact with gender. As one part of the Department for Diversity and Community Studies. the WKU Gender & Women's Studies Program offers a minor to undergraduates, a Graduate Certificate, and the newly founded MA in Social Responsibility and Sustainable Communities.
