Meet Jennifer Davis! 🧬💚💫🚀

Jennifer Davis is the Science Department Head and a Chemistry teacher at Butler County High School, where she has spent the past 23 years helping students discover a love for science and STEM. A proud Butler County High School and Western Kentucky University alumna, she holds degrees in Chemistry and Psychology, a Master’s in Chemistry Education, and a Rank I in STEM Leadership.

In addition to teaching chemistry and computer science, Jennifer serves as the BCHS Yearbook Advisor, Cross Country Coach, and STEM Bus Coordinator. She is passionate about creating hands-on learning experiences that connect students with real-world STEM careers. Jennifer partners with Aviation Heritage Park to lead aviation, rocket, drone, and robotics camps that inspire young learners to explore science, engineering, technology, and aviation. Through her work with the district STEM Bus and community outreach programs, she helps bring engaging STEM opportunities to students across the region.

Jennifer has participated in numerous professional development experiences, including NASA programs, Educator Space Camp, and the U.S. Naval Academy’s Set Sail Teacher Workshop. She is excited to be part of Upward Bound this summer and looks forward to helping students discover new opportunities, build confidence, and pursue their goals both in and out of the classroom.

WEEK TWO RECAP 💫☁️😼💙🎳

SUNDAY 🫟💚
Sunday started slimy! It was so much fun getting our hands dirty by making some slime!

MONDAY 🏀✨💪🏼
After a long morning of class, we relieved our minds by working out and getting active at the Preston Center!! Then an evening of games led by RC Racheal and Senior Nivia!!

TUESDAY 🏐💫🌉
Our morning of hard work in class was rewarded by a few hours of play at Preston! Then Hayden led us in a fun Shark Tank activity followed by a popsicle bridge challenge led by Nivia!!

WEDNESDAY 🏀💙😼
UB took on the BBN on Wednesday!! We loved seeing all the great opportunities that UK offer!! We also had the opportunity to tour the UK Art Museum!

THURSDAY 🚁💚☁️
The afternoon FILLED with fun activities! First we toured the Bowling Green-Warren County Airport! Then we headed to Southern Lanes for some bowling!!

FRIDAY 🚗💛🧳
Time to head home!!

We 🤟 ASL with Ms. Holly Bryant!!

We are so greatful for have Holly Bryant to join us this summer to teach students American Sign Language!! Read the following quote from Ms. Bryant to learn more about her expertise:

“Hi! I am Holly Bryant. I am so excited to be back with the Upward Bound Program teaching American Sign Language. I have been learning and teaching ASL for over 15 years. I am thankful for my time spent with Deaf mentors and the Deaf Community. I consider myself honored to be a lifelong learner of American Sign Language. I am currently a full time instructor for the American Sign Language Studies program at Western Kentucky University. I have a loving and supportive husband, 2 kiddos, and 2 dogs. My children enjoy learning ASL and attending events with me whenever possible. 

As an educator, I strive to instill a passion for second language learning, as well as Cultural awareness. I am blessed to help others learn such a beautiful Language and robust Culture. During our time together at UB, we will learn basic conversation skills, how to advocate for others, and respect for the Community. One of my mottos is to “Know Better, Do Better”; and the UB students embrace that each time they step into the classroom with me.”

WEEK 1 RECAP 🎢📚💛🎳

WOW! What a great first week of camp!! This week has been full of memories! Let’s run it back

SUNDAY 📦✨
We got moved into our home away from home! Then we were introduced to our amazing RCs and leaders through some team building activities!

MONDAY 📖🎢
We started our morning hitting the books before enjoying an afternoon at Beech Bend Park!!

TUESDAY 🏫🎳
Field trip day!! We took a tour of Lindsey Wilson University! On our way back to Bowling Green, we made a pit stop at Ralphie’s Fun Center in Glasgow!!

WEDNESDAY 📚🎨
After such an exciting day Tuesday, Wednesday was pretty chill! We had class in the morning, then had time to do crafts, play card games, strum a guitar, or just hang out with each other! So fun!

THURSDAY ✏️🏀
Again, we started off our day with class! After our communication class, we had free time at the Preston Center on WKUs campus!! After dinner we got a little more colorful with some tie dye!!

FRIDAY 🫶🏠
Sadly, every great thing comes to an end :( Today we drive each student back home!
